Housing Board Bulletin - Visit to KSI Morogoro Jamaat to Launch Long-Awaited Renovation Project

AFED Housing Board Visits KSI Morogoro Jamaat to Launch Long-Awaited Renovation Project

Alhamdulillah, on 25th May 2026, AFED Housing Board Chairman Alhaj Akil Hirji accompanied by the Board’s Project Coordinator Br. Mohamed Moledina visited KSI Morogoro Jamaat to meet with the newly appointed Managing Committee and Trustees and discuss the long-awaited renovation and development of the Jamaat’s facilities.

The visit provided an important opportunity to engage with the new leadership of Morogoro Jamaat, understand the challenges facing the community, and agree on a practical way forward to start the renovation works, which have remained on hold since 2024.

The Chairman of KSI Morogoro Jamaat, Alhaj Shafiq Rajvani, together with members of the Managing Committee, warmly welcomed Akilbhai and Mohamedbhai. Following Zohrayn prayers, a detailed meeting was held in the Imambargha with the Managing Committee and Trustees.

The discussions focused on the extensive works required within the Jamaat compound, including the Masjid, Imambargha and other community facilities, as well as the longer-term development of commercial facilities to establish a sustainable source of income for the Jamaat.

A Three-Phase Development Plan

Recognizing the significant scope of the proposed works and the financial resources required, it was agreed that the project would be implemented in three strategic phases.

The approach is designed not only to address the immediate infrastructure requirements of the Jamaat, but also to establish a sustainable financial foundation for the future.

Phase One – Upgrading the Masjid

The first phase will focus on the renovation and upgrading of the Masjid and its related facilities. The proposed works will include:

  • Upgrading the Wudhoo area

  • Internal and external wall repair & painting

  • Upgrading the Masjid microphone system

  • Replacement of the Masjid carpet

  • New wiring system, lights, fans and switches

  • Ceiling decoration

  • Renovation of the Minara

  • The estimated cost of the first phase is US$30,000.

The Africa Federation, through the generous support of donors, will assist KSI Morogoro Jamaat in undertaking this important first phase.

Phase Two – Upgrading the Imambargha

The second phase will focus on the renovation and upgrading of the Imambargha.

The Imambargha is an important centre for religious programmes, community gatherings and activities. Its improvement will provide the Jamaat with a better and more suitable facility to serve the community and future generations.

Phase Three – Investment in Commercial Facilities

The third phase will focus on the development of commercial shops and other income-generating facilities on the Jamaat’s available property.

The objective is to establish a sustainable source of income that can contribute towards the Jamaat’s ongoing operational costs, maintenance of its facilities and community activities.  This investment is aligned with the vision of the AFED Chairman, Alhaj Amine Nassor, who has consistently emphasized self sustainability as an important priority for Jamaats and the wider community.

This investment is intended to strengthen the financial sustainability of KSI Morogoro Jamaat and reduce its dependence on donations for recurring expenses.

The vision is therefore not limited to renovating the existing facilities. It is about creating a sustainable future for the Jamaat by developing assets that can generate income and support the community for many years to come.

A Partnership for the Future

The proposed three-phase development represents a clear and practical vision:

Phase One – Upgrade the Masjid

Phase Two – Upgrade the Imambargha

Phase Three – Develop income-generating commercial facilities

Through the partnership between AFED, KSI Morogoro Jamaat, its leadership and generous donors, the project seeks to restore and improve the Jamaat’s existing facilities while laying the foundation for long-term financial sustainability.

The visit and discussions mark an important milestone towards starting the long-awaited renovation project. With the commitment of the new Jamaat leadership, the support of AFED and the generosity of donors, it is hoped that the project will progress successfully and bring renewed life to the facilities of KSI Morogoro Jamaat.

Most importantly, the project reflects a shared commitment to preserve our places of worship, strengthen our community institutions and build sustainable assets for future generations.

We appeal to our Community members to donate generously towards this noble project of Thawab-e-Jariyah. Each donation will Insha’allah be rewarded amply, there is no such as big or small amounts when giving for a noble cause for the pleasure of Allah (SWT).

We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant success in the completion of all three phases for the benefit of the entire Morogoro community, Ameen.
