Morogoro Jamaat Renovations - Update and Appeal
MOROGORO JAMAAT MASJID RENOVATION
PHASE ONE UPDATE & PHASE TWO FUNDRAISING APPEAL
The Africa Federation Housing Development Board would like to provide an update on the renovation of the Morogoro Jamaat Masjid and the commencement of the next phase of this important project.
Phase One – Renovation Update
Following our earlier newswire regarding the Phase One renovation, the Africa Federation Housing Development Board, comprising Akil Hirji, Abaas Bhimji and Mohamed Moledina, together with the sub-contractor Azeem Somji, travelled to Morogoro on 5th September 2026.
The team met with the Morogoro Jamaat Managing Committee, comprising Chairman Shafiq Rajvani, Aliraza Rashid, Sameer Manji, Rizwan Manji and Aliabbas Rashid, to discuss and finalize the renovation plans and implementation arrangements.

It has been agreed that the Phase One renovation works will commence on 12th September 2026 and the expected date of completion is by 30th October 2026 insha’allah.
During the renovation period, the Masjid facilities will be temporarily shifted to the Imambargha for approximately one and a half months.
We kindly request all community members for their cooperation, patience and understanding during this period as these important works are undertaken.
Phase One Funding – Appeal Closed
The Africa Federation is pleased to inform the Community that the fundraising appeal for Phase One is now closed, as the full cost of the Phase One renovation has been generously sponsored by the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Foundation INC, USA.

We sincerely thank the Foundation for its generous support and commitment towards the Morogoro Jamaat. May Allah (SWT) reward them abundantly for their contribution towards this important project.
Phase Two – Fundraising Appeal
With the funding for Phase One now fully secured, Africa Federation will commence fundraising for Phase Two, which will focus on the renovation and upgrading of the Imambargha and surrounding facilities, including the Madressa.

The Imambargha is an important centre for religious programmes, community gatherings and various community activities. Its improvement will provide the Jamaat with a better, safer and more suitable facility to serve the community and future generations.
The proposed Phase Two works will include:
Replacement of carpets
Installation of ceilings
New electrical wiring, lights, fans and switches
Upgrading of the microphone and sound system
Upgrading of toilets and plumbing systems
Construction of additional toilets
Improving of structure improvement of minaret
External works, including paving and boundary wall improvements
Internal and external painting of the Imambargha, Madressa and surrounding areas
The estimated cost for the renovations of Phase Two is US$65,000; the Africa Federation appeals to our community members, well-wishers and donors to continue their generous support towards Phase Two and help us complete this important project for the benefit of the Morogoro Jamaat and future generations.
Every contribution, large or small, will help us towards completing these essential improvements and creating facilities that can continue to serve the community for many years to come.

May He grant success to the renovation works and make this Masjid, Imambargha, Madressa and their facilities be a source of spiritual benefit and service to the community for many generations to come.
