Successful Completion of Renovation Works in Mtwara

SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF RENOVATION WORKS AT MTWARA JAMAAT CENTRE AND MIKINDANI KABRASTAN
Alhamdulillah, the renovation works for the Mtwara Jamaat Centre and Kabrastan in Mikindani have been successfully completed, and members have commenced using the Masjid facilities effective 1st Ramadhan 1447 A.H.
The renovation works commenced on 12th December 2025 and were completed on 25th February 2026.
During the renovation period, we ensured that all necessary repairs and improvements were carried out, and where additional works were identified, they were also undertaken and completed to ensure the facilities are properly upgraded for the benefit of the Jamaat.

Summary of Works Undertaken
Masjid, Imambargha & General Compound Works
The following improvement and renovation works have been undertaken:
Structural strengthening of the Masjid building.
Replacement of existing windows with new aluminium windows and installation of new doors.
Reconfiguration and relocation of new system of Wudhoo area, including:
Creation of a new Ladies Wudhoo area
Renovation of sabil area
Upgrading of the handwash area
Renovation of toilet facilities.
Replacement of roof sheets and ceiling.
Complete electrical system upgrade, including installation of an improved PA (Public Address) system.
Plumbing works, including installation of two new septic tanks.
Internal and external painting works.



Kabrastan – Works Undertaken
The following improvement works were carried out at the Kabrastan:
Plastering, flooring, and painting works.
Installation of roof trusses and roof sheets.
Construction of a toilet facility for the caretaker, including installation of a septic tank.
Installation of windows and doors.


Acknowledgement and Appreciation
The Chairman of the Housing Board, Alhaj Akilbhai Hirji, wishes to record his sincere appreciation to the Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Aminebhai Nassor, as well as the Office Bearers and Trustees for their continued support. He also extends his heartfelt gratitude to all the donors who have generously contributed towards the renovation works.
Special appreciation is also extended to the Managing Committee of Mtwara Jamaat, particularly Alhaj Rafikibhai Jaffer, AFED Councillor Alhaj Shahidbhai Murji, and AFED Project Coordinator Mohamed Moledina, for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout the renovation process.
The total cost of the renovation works amounted to USD 48,461, covering all improvements undertaken for the Masjid, Imambargha, Madressa, Kabrastan and the general compound.
Insha’Allah, in line with the vision of AFED Chairman Alhaj Aminebhai to ensure that all our centres remain in good condition and properly maintained, we will continue to undertake such renovation and improvement works wherever necessary for the benefit of the Jamaat.
