AFED CHAIRMAN ATTENDS COEJ CONFERENCE
5th – 6th September 2025
The Chairman of the Africa Federation Alhaj Amine bhai Nassor attended the First Annual COEJ Conference of the term 2024-27 hosted by the Hyderi Islamic Centre, South London from 5th to 6th September 2025. The Manar al-Huda Qur'an Competition was held subsequently with the Conference.
During the Conference the annual meeting of the Council of European Jamaats (COEJ) the Secretariat, Boards, and various departments delivered a series of presentations, which were followed by deliberations and the formulation of plans for the way forwards.
AFED Chairman, Amine Bhai Nassor, in his address, thanked the COEJ President Arifali bhai Hirji for his gracious invitation to attend this Conference and expressed his pleasure at seeing a number of familiar faces from Africa holding positions within institutions across Europe.
He emphasized the importance of strong relationships between regional federations and expressed his desire to further strengthen these ties. He highlighted the enthusiasm of AFED and the expertise of COEJ as valuable assets that, when shared, can contribute significantly to the growth of the Community.

COEJ took the opportunity of the Conference to present Awards (COEJ Commendation) to the dedicated members of the Community in Europe who serve, inspire and uplift our communities with sincerity, excellence and faith. The recipients for 2025 Commendation are:
The Zaynabiyya Commendation (Excellence in Faith): Sister Zahra Kanani
The Baqir al-’Uloom Commendation (Excellence in Religious Education, Madrasah): Sister Mariam Abbas
The ibn Sina Commendation (Excellence in Academics): Brother Ali Juma
The Abul Fadhl al-Abbas Commendation (Excellence in Community Services): Brother Mohsin Lakha
The Light of Muhammad (saw) Commendation (a recognition given by the CoEJ President): Mu’allim Murtaza Bandali
The Secretariat extends appreciation to Alhaj Arifali Hirji and his team, Alhaj Aliasghar Khimani, President of the Hyderi Islamic Centre and his Managing Committee, the Organizing Committee and volunteers for their welcome and hospitality.
