The death of an 'Alim is the death of the 'Alam (world)
The Secretariat of the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa has received with profound grief and deep sorrow the tragic news of the martyrdom of His Eminence Ayatullah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, which occurred on Saturday, 28th February 2026 (10th Mahe Ramadhan 1447 AH) in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.
On behalf of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Community under the Africa Federation, the Office Bearers, Trustees, Councillors, and all the Jamaats of the Federation, we conveyed our deepest condolences to our Imam of the Time, Imam al-Hujjah al-Mahdi (ATFS), the 8th Holy Imam Hazrat Ali Raza ('A), Bibi Masuma-e-Qum('A), our revered Marja' Ayatullah al-Uzma Sayyed Ali al-Hussaini Al-Sistani, the bereaved family of the Marhum, the noble people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the entire Shia Ummah worldwide on this immense and tragic loss.
His Eminence Ayatullah Khamenei was a guiding figure for the Shia Ummah and his death is a great loss to the Community.
The Federation requests all affiliated Jamaats and community members across Africa to observe seven (7) days of mourning. Jamaats are further requested to organize, Qur’an programs and Majlis-e-Aza’a within their respective centers for the isaal-e-thawab of the departed soul and all those who were martyred along with him.
The Secretariat shall continue to keep the Community informed as further official information becomes available.
We pray to Almighty Allah (SWT), through His infinite mercy, to grant the Marhum maghferat, elevate his ranks, and grant him eternal proximity to the Chaharda Ma’sumeen (AS).
Below is the statement issued on 11th Ramadhan 1447 AH by Ayatullah al-Uzma Sayyed Ali al-Hussaini Al-Sistani
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
(إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون)
(Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.)
ببالغ الحزن والأسى، نعزي الشعب الإيراني الشريف وعموم المسلمين في العالم باستشهاد القائد الأعلى للجمهورية الإسلامية سماحة آية الله السيّد الخامنئي (رضوان الله عليه).
With profound sorrow and grief, we extend our condolences to the noble Iranian people and to Muslims around the world on the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, His Eminence Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may Allah be pleased with him).
إن المكانة الرفيعة لهذا الرجل العظيم ودوره الفريد في قيادة نظام الجمهورية الإسلامية على مدى سنوات طويلة جليّة وواضحة للجميع.
The lofty status of this great man and his unique role in leading the system of the Islamic Republic over many long years are evident and clear to all.
ولا شك أن الأعداء، من خلال اغتياله وشنّ عدوان عسكري واسع النطاق على البلاد، يسعون إلى ضرب إيران العزيزة.
There is no doubt that the enemies, through his assassination and by launching a wide-scale military aggression against the country, seek to strike beloved Iran.
ومن المتوقع من أمة هذا المرز وبوم العظيمة في هذه الظروف الصعبة والحساسة، أن يحافظوا على الوحدة والانسجام الوطني، وألا يسمحوا للمعتدين بتحقيق أهدافهم الشؤمية.
It is expected from the great nation of this land and homeland, in these difficult and sensitive circumstances, to preserve unity and national cohesion and not allow the aggressors to achieve their sinister objectives.
نسأل الله العلي القدير للفقيد السعيد علو الدرجات والرضوان الإلهي، ولجميع المفجوعين الصبر الجميل والأجر الجزيل.
We ask Allah, the Most High and All-Powerful, to grant the blessed deceased elevated ranks and divine pleasure, and to grant all those grieving beautiful patience and abundant reward.
ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله العلي العظيم.
There is no power and no strength except through Allah, the Most High, the Most Great
