Marhum Ahmed Abdulhussein Daya

The Africa Federation Secretariat received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Alhaj Ahmed Abdulhussein Daya, who left this transient world for permanent abode on 20th May 2026 in London, U.K. He will be buried on Friday, 22nd May 2026 at Woodcock Hill Cemetery, Northwood in London.
Marhum Ahmed Bhai was a renowned figure in the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri community whose lifelong dedication and selfless service touched countless lives across the world.
Born in Moshi, Tanzania, Marhum Ahmed bhai completed his primary and secondary education before settling in the United Kingdom in 1966. Marhum Ahmed Bhai built a distinguished career as a Chartered Accountant and later ventured into telecommunications and power entrepreneurship in East Africa.
His journey of community service began at the young age of 30 when he became Treasurer of the KSMIC London from 1979 to 1981. In 1982, he joined the World Federation of KSIMC, where he served as Honorary Treasurer for more than 25 years under four Presidents - Marhum Haider Haji, Marhum Mulla Asgharali M M Jaffer, Dr. Hasnain Walji, and Dr. Ahmad Hassam. He remains one of the longest-serving office bearers in the history of the World Federation, dedicating over 36 years of continuous service to the institution and continuing thereafter as a Nominated Councillor, mentoring and guiding the next generation of community workers.
Marhum Ahmed Bhai’s passion for humanitarian and community development initiatives led to the successful implementation of numerous impactful projects, including the Mulla Asgher Mombasa Medical Scheme (MAMMS), the Al Asghary and Amira Housing Schemes in Dar es Salaam, and the Hujjat Housing Scheme in the UK. He also raised donations to support tabligh and empowerment activities in Bilal Muslim Missions in East Africa.


Marhum Ahmed Bhai was widely respected for his deep commitment to humanitarian and relief causes across the globe. His outreach extended far beyond borders, supporting welfare initiatives in India, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, and many other regions during times of crisis. Following the devastating Gujarat earthquake in 2001, his presence and hands-on efforts on the ground brought immense comfort and support to affected communities. Whether responding to natural disasters or assisting the poor and needy across the Shia world, his passion and dedication helped raise funds for numerous charitable initiatives, earning him the admiration and trust of the donor community.
In recognition of his outstanding and distinguished services, Marhum Ahmed Bhai received several prestigious honours. He was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the World Federation in September 2014 and was honoured with the traditional Golden Pagri, a symbol of nobility, respect, and honour within the Khoja tradition.
In 2019, the Africa Federation bestowed upon him the prestigious “Husseini Medal” and Citation in appreciation of his dedicated honorary services and lifelong commitment to the development and welfare of the community.

Marhum Ahmed Bhai was a devoted husband to Nargis bai Daya and a loving father to his sons Riyaz, Altaf and Ali Imran.
On behalf of the Africa Federation Chairman, Alhaj Amine Nassor, Office Bearers, Trustees, Councillors and the Housing Development Board, we convey our heartfelt condolences to Marhum’s wife, sons and all family members.
We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant him maghferah, and a chosen place in the proximity of Ahlulbayt (‘A) and bestow Sabr-e-Jameel upon his dear family and relatives over this huge loss.
We request Momineen to remember Marhum Ahmed Abdulhussein Daya and all the Marhumeen with a Sura e Fateha for their maghferat.
