Distinguished Islamic Scholars Visit AFED Headquarters in Dar es Salaam for Strategic Engagement

The Secretariat of the Africa Federation (AFED) was privileged to host a series of high-level engagements with renowned visiting scholars at the AFED Headquarters in Dar es Salaam, fostering inspiring discussions on media innovation, strategic growth, youth engagement, and community welfare.

Interacting with the Muharram 1448 Visiting Scholars

On 19th June 2026, AFED Office Bearers, Board Chairs, Ambassador, and Secretariat staff warmly welcomed three esteemed international scholars invited by the Dar es Salaam Jamaat for the lectures of the first ten nights of Muharram 1448:

  • Syed Zameer Abbas Jaffri (India)

  • Maulana Mustafa Moledina (Reunion)

  • Sheikh Sayyid Aidarus Shariff Alwy (Kenya)

During an interactive exchange, AFED Board Chairs presented their key operational strategies, recent milestones, and ongoing challenges, paving the way for targeted advice from the guest scholars.

Key Guidance from the Session:

  • Digital Media & Youth Outreach: Syed Zameer, who is also the Head of Sabeel Media, underscored the urgent need to harness contemporary media channels to propagate the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.), particularly for children and youth navigating modern challenges.

  • Firmness in Faith: Maulana Mustafa reminded attendees of the vital importance of remaining steadfast in core Islamic principles through the guidance of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.).

  • Humanitarian Mandate: Sheikh Aidarus called upon AFED to broaden its support networks and strengthen relief and development services aimed at vulnerable, disadvantaged communities both across the African continent and globally.

High-Level Engagement with Syed Ali Raza Rizvi

Continuing this period of fruitful discourse, AFED Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor and the Office Bearers hosted Maulana Syed Ali Raza Rizvi, President of Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Shia (Europe), on 2nd August 2026 for a strategic round-table discussion followed by a formal dinner. Syed Ali Raza Rizvi was in Dar es Salaam for the recitation of lectures during Ashra-e-Zainabiya (a.s.).

Core Strategic Focus Areas:

  • From Thoughts to Collective Growth: Syed emphasized the imperative of a think tank, long-term strategic vision and cross-board collaboration in cornerstone sectors such as Education, Housing, Economic Development, etc.

  • Empowering Community Leaders: He highlighted the critical value of having community representation in public governance, high-ranked academia, and corporate leadership positions, urging AFED to actively empower and assist individuals aspiring to these high-impact roles.

The Secretariat extends its sincere appreciation to the Dar es Salaam Jamaat Tabligh Board for their kind assistance in making these interactions feasible. AFED offers its humble prayers for the continued health, protection, and success of these scholars as they serve Islam and the teachings of the Ahlulbayt (A.S.).
