HONOURING A LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE
BMMK and ABAK Joint Program for Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Khamenei
Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (BMMK), in collaboration with the Ahlul Bayt Assembly of Kenya (ABAK), held a joint commemoration at Mtongwe on Saturday 12th June 2026 in honour of the martyred Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Khamenei (r).
The program brought together scholars, Muballigheen and members of the Shia community for spiritual reflection, remembrance and discussions on the enduring lessons from the life, leadership and sacrifices of the late leader.
The gathering commenced with a Khatmul Quran dedicated to the thawaab of the soul of the martyred Supreme Leader, followed by Ziyaarat Ashura. Sheikh Musa Shali welcomed participants and delivered the opening remarks, setting the tone for the program. This was followed by reflections from various Muballigheen, who shared the lessons and inspiration they had drawn from Ayatullah Khamenei's life and leadership.

Ali Samoja presented a brief overview of the life of the martyred Supreme Leader, highlighting his dedication, resilience and unwavering commitment to the ideals of Islam and the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.).
Alhaj Iqbal Sunderji

Alhaj Iqbal Sunderji emphasized the importance of embodying the qualities demonstrated by Ayatullah Khamenei, particularly his perseverance, steadfastness and unwavering commitment to the cause of Islam.
He encouraged Muballigheen to remain dedicated to their mission of spreading the teachings of Islam and working towards the vision of establishing one million Shia followers in Kenya by the year 2030. He further stressed the need for a united Shia network where individuals, institutions and organizations work together towards the common objective of Tabligh. He assured participants that BMMK remains committed to providing its resources and support towards achieving this vision.
Seyyid Aidarus Sharif Alwy
Seyyid Aidarus Sharif Alwy delivered a presentation on Leadership Lessons from Imam Khamenei – The Field of Tabligh Today.
He encouraged Muballigheen to adopt a proactive rather than reactive approach to Tabligh, emphasizing that the primary focus should be on confidently presenting the authentic teachings of the Madhhab of Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) rather than constantly responding to external narratives.
He also emphasized the effective use of social media to strengthen the community's voice and share its message, values and perspectives through modern communication channels.
Conclusion of The Program
The program concluded with a short session of Maatam, followed by words of appreciation and a vote of thanks delivered by Sheikh Ali Samoja and Sheikh Musa Shali. Participants were then hosted to lunch before the gathering came to a close.
Overall, the program provided a valuable platform for spiritual reflection, strengthening unity within the Shia community and reaffirming the responsibility of Muballigheen to carry forward the mission of Tabligh inspired by the example of great Islamic leaders.
Reflections and Dua
As we reflect on the lessons of this gathering, we pray that Almighty Allah (s.w.t.) elevates the ranks of the late Ayatullah Sayyid Ali Khamenei (r.) and all the Shuhadaa, accepts their sacrifices, grants victory to the oppressed over the oppressors, and keeps us steadfast in His service. May He hasten the reappearance of our Master, Imam al-Hujjah (a.t.f.s.), so that he may fill the earth with justice and equity just as it has been filled with injustice and oppression. Ameen.
