A delegation from the Central Bilal Board (CBB) of Africa Federation, led by Chairman Alhaj Mohamed bhai Hemani, visited Kigoma, Tanzania, from August 7th to 9th 2024. The delegation included Alhaj Hussein Karim, Chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania (BMMT), and Alhaj Afzalali Bhimani, Chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Uganda (BMMU).
The aims of the visit were:
To familiarize with and assess the Tabligh activities in the region.
To support BMMT's efforts in spreading the religion of Islam aligned with the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) and the Ahlulbayt (AS).
To explore newer opportunities for growing and enhancing the Tabligh activities in Kigoma Region.
The Bilal Kigoma Branch Office is headquartered on a 10- Acre HUB at Ahlulbayt Islamic Centre in Kigoma-Ujiji Municipal consisting of two higher level Hawzas. There are also 2 Pre-Hawzas at Bilal Centres in Kasuku village and Mwandiga Village.
Students at the Hawzas are from Bilal Muslim Mission Centres country wide.
The Ahlulbayt Islamic Centre in Kigoma, a family foundation of Alhaj Mohsin Mohamedtaki Abdullah Lalji (Sheni Bhai) with Sheikh Abdulwahid Abyat operates the academic schools consisting of Nursery, Primary and Secondary schools.
Aunali Nursery School - 110 Students
Shabbir Primary School – 230 Students
Ahlulbayt Islamic Seminary School – 114 Students
Most of the students at the Seminary are from Bilal Muslim Mission Centres with sponsorships offered by The World Federation, The Mainstay Foundation and the Ahlulbayt Islamic Centre.
Kigoma Bilal has a total of 31 centers outside Kigoma Town - At far away distances, where Bilal Muballighs run the Mosques and Madrassah facilities.
Sheni Bhai is the Chairman of Kigoma Branch of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania (BMMT). He is assisted by Shk Abdul Wahed Abyat as the Chief Missionary, Sayyed Javad Fazeli, and Sheikh Mufeed Hussain, graduates from Najaf, and 11 Sheikhs and 4 Shekhat from the Hawza Al Qaim of Tanga and Hawzas at Kigoma. The Hawza students are being trained and prepared to qualify and ably run the Bilal Centers in Kigoma Region and also Bilal Centers in other regions.
Bilal Kigoma Branch has a total of approximately 118 staff on its payroll supported by budget from Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania, The Mainstay Foundation and some private donors.
Key highlights of the visit included:
Ahlulbayt Islamic Centre: The delegation was warmly receivedat the centre, which boasts state- of-the-art facilities, including a primary and secondary school, Hawza (Islamic seminary) for boys and girls, library, ICT labs, audio-visual room, and science laboratory.
Meetings with Scholars and Students: The delegation met with respected Sheikhs andSheikhats, who are dedicated to teaching Islamic fundamentals, and interacted with over 191 students benefiting from the centre's facilities. Most Sheikhs and Shekhats have graduated from the Tanga and Kigoma Hawzas. Lady Sheikhats have graduated from Bibi Khadijatul Kubra (AS) Hawza in Kigoma.
Centre Visits: The team visited few BMMT centres at Kamara, Mwandiga, Kibirizi, Kabeba, Mahembe and Ilagala witnessing the progress and the positive impact of BMMT's Tabligh activities in the region.
New Mosque and Hawza Premises: The delegation visited the construction of a new mosque and Hawza premises on a plot area of approx.12 acres at Mahembe (outside Kigoma).
Al Mahdi Primary School and Hawza: The team visited the construction of Al Mahdi Primary School on a 22-acre plot at Mwakizega Village, Uvinza District - Kigoma Region - a project funded by Comfort Aid International (USA).
Water Treatment Plant at Ilagala Bilal Center: Alhaj Mohsin Lalji's innovative water treatment plant, providing clean drinking water to the local population at a minimal cost, was a highlight of the visit.
Chairman Mohamed bhai Hemani commended Alhaj Mohsin Lalji, Sheikh Abyat and their team for their deep commitment to the cause and their tireless efforts in spreading the religion of Islam as per teachings of the Holy Prophet, the Holy Quran and Ahlulbayt (AS) with remarkable developments in Kigoma region; also, was comforting to see a team of qualified Muballigh Shaykhs and Sheikhaats.
CBB extends its gratitude to Alhaj Mohsin Lalji for the warm hospitality. This visit has fostered a deeper understanding and appreciation for the region's tabligh and educational activities, and we look forward to continued cooperation and support.
