Alhaj Dr. Mohamed Hussein Jaffer Honored for his Exceptional Contributions in Kenya

In an exceptional moment of national significance, the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Community celebrates the extraordinary recognition of one of its eminent members, Alhaj Dr. Mohamed Hussein Abdulla Jaffer. 


During the Jamhuri Day celebrations on 12th December 2025, Alhaj Dr. Mohamed Hussein Jaffer was conferred with the Elder of the Order of the Golden Heart of Kenya (E.G.H.) by The President of the United Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto.  This award is the highest honour conferred on civilians who have made exceptionally meritorious contributions to the nation’s development, governance, leadership, or service. 


Throughout his journey, Mohamed bhai has received numerous prestigious awards in Kenya, reflecting a progression of recognition over time for his distinguished contributions to business, economic growth and community development in Kenya:


  • “Order of the Burning Spear” (MBS) – in the year 2020 presented by President Daniel T. Arap Moi

  • “Elder of the Burning Spear” (EBS) – in the year 2012 presented by President Mwai Kibaki

  • “Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear” (CBS) – in the year 2022 presented by President Uhuru Kenyatta

  • National Hero Citation – in the year 2023 presented by President William Ruto



In addition to the above awards, Mohamed bhai has also received an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in Humanities (PhD) and the prestigious Peace Award from the United Graduate College & Seminary International in January 2019, recognizing his commitment to promoting peace and harmony.  Furthermore, Mohamed bhai was honored with the World Civility Leadership Award by iChange Nation (ICN), cementing his legacy as a leader dedicated to fostering civility and cooperation in society.


At the Community level, Mohamed bhai has been bestowed the prestigious Haidery Medal by the then Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi during the Africa Federation 27th Ordinary Conference held Mombasa in April 2019 for his long, honorary and exemplary services to the wider community and to the Africa Federation.


Mohamed bhai's extensive record of service extends to his community in various capacities within the Mombasa Jamaat and the Africa Federation. He is currently the AFED Nominated Councillor and Trustee of the Jaffer Foundation Charitable Trust, an organization at the forefront of philanthropic efforts, with a primary focus on water, health, and education projects to uplift communities in the Coast region.  Mohamed bhai is also a founder, trustee, and active member of various clubs and organizations in Kenya, exemplifying his commitment to the betterment of society.


On behalf of Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor, the office bearers, trustees, councillors of the Africa Federation, and members of the constituent Jamaats of the Africa Federation, we extend our heartiest congratulations to Mohamed bhai for the honor bestowed upon him. This distinguished recognition serves as a testament of his outstanding contributions as a true luminary who continues to inspire and elevate the lives of those around him.
