Alhaj Amine Nassor visits Nairobi:

Attends QC-18 and Engages SAAJ Leadership

During his visit to Nairobi, AFED Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor held key leadership meetings, toured community facilities, and engaged with various Jamaat teams. Supported by Vice Chairman Alhaj Murtaza Somji, the visit focused on strengthening community development, long-term sustainability, and alignment across AFED institutions. His participation in QC-18 and strategic discussions reinforced collaboration and shared priorities.

A key highlight of the visit was his attendance at the 18th Annual Qur’an Competition (QC-18), where he also addressed the gathering during the closing ceremony. His engagement reinforced AFED’s support for religious learning & development, and community-led initiatives.

Alhaj Amine bhai took the opportunity to meet with the Chairman of Nairobi Jamaat, Alhaj Dr. Mazaher Jaffer and his Managing Committee (MC) to discuss the community’s progression and long-term direction. The meeting focused on economic empowerment and income-sustaining projects that can strengthen resilience and reduce dependency.

As part of the visit, the Chairman toured key community facilities to better understand existing infrastructure and how it supports current and future needs. The Jaffery Islamic Complex tour covered the Library, Kindergarten, and the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH), providing a direct view of spaces that support learning, early childhood development, and community programmes.

The tour included a visit to the Nairobi Jaffery Sports Club (NJSC), where he met the trustees and the management team, with discussions recognising the club’s role in youth engagement and community participation. He then visited the Park Road Complex, including the mosque, to view the facilities on site.

A well-attended dinner at NJSC, organised by senior members of SAAJ, brought together seniors and invitees from Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Madagascar, Mombasa and Songea.  The Chairman delivered his address to the gathered representatives, highlighting key community initiatives and directions.

During this visit, the AFED delegation, together with Amine Bhai, also had the privilege of engaging with several leadership teams, including the Media Team led by Chairman Salilabbas Bhai Sadak, the Sports Council led by Chairman Muntazir Bhai Meghjee and Vice Chairman Imran Bhai Dhalla, as well as the Chairman of Arusha Jamaat, Fayaz Bhai Dhirani, and the Chairman of Songea Jamaat, Hussein bhai Dhalla, who were attending the QC in Nairobi.

A focused leadership meeting took place at the residence of Alhaj Murtaza Somji.   Alongside Amine bhai, attendees included Murtaza bhai Somji (Vice Chairman), Mohammed Bhai Bandali (AFED Trustee), Alihassan bhai Kassam (Hon. Secretary), Muntazir bhai Meghjee (Sports Council Chairman), Salilabbas bhai Sadak (Media Board Chair) and other AFED board members. Updates were shared on ongoing work, progress achieved, and priorities ahead.

In the end, the Nairobi visit brought together QC-18, leadership meetings and on-the-ground visits, all aimed at practical, sustainable community development and stronger alignment.
