The Africa Federation Chairman Alhaj Amine bhai Nassor is pleased to announce the appointment of Alhaj Mohamed Pyarali Hemani as the Chairman of the Africa Federation Central Bilal Board (CBB) for the term 2025 – 2028.
Alhaj Amine Bhai is also pleased to announce the appointment of Murabbi Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the former Vice Chairman of Africa Federation as the Africa Federation Coordinator for External Tabligh, he will be working closely with the CBB in supporting and enhancing further the tabligh activities in the region, with the aim to drive the overall vision of the Africa Federation towards achieving the goals and objectives of External Tabligh.
The CBB Chairman has finalized the team for his term, and we are pleased to share their brief profiles. The Board comprises a dynamic group of dedicated individuals who bring with them a wealth of experience, commitment, and passion in advancing the mission of Tabligh.

Mohamed bhai Hemani’s commitment to community service dates back to 1971, when he was elected Hon. Secretary of Arusha Jamaat at the age of 20. He later served as a Councillor to the Africa Federation, and after moving to Mombasa in 1983, continued to serve in various roles including Chairman of Mombasa Jamaat (2000–2004) and as Vice Chairman and Trustee of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (1998–2009).
Following his migration to Dar es Salaam, he was elected as the Hon. Treasurer of the Africa Federation in 2010, and also served as a Managing Trustee for nine years until 2019, when he retired from active business and community roles. In recognition of his outstanding and decades-long service, he was awarded the prestigious Husseini Medal by AFED Chairman Shabir bhai Najafi.
During his term of 2022 to 2025, Mohamed bhai has successfully overseen the consolidation of Tabligh efforts of Bilal Boards in Kigali (Rwanda), Lilongwe (Malawi), and Bujumbura (Burundi). His reappointment comes at a time when the Federation is poised to further explore similar initiatives in Maputo and Nampula (Mozambique), as well as other regions showing potential for growth in External Tabligh.
His continued leadership is aimed at strengthening the development and administration of the Bilal Boards in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, while also expanding external Tabligh activities to new regions.
His reappointment reflects the Africa Federation’s continued trust in his vision, strategic insight, and deep-rooted commitment to the cause of External Tabligh.
Hussein bhai Karim was born on 5th October 1963 in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He is married and blessed with five children.
For over four decades, Hussein bhai has dedicated himself to public, religious, and charitable service. His involvement across numerous institutions committed to social and humanitarian causes has earned him a wealth of experience in office administration, personnel management, and public relations.
His extensive overseas travel has allowed him to build strong ties with various religious institutions, as well as with students and instructors abroad, further enriching his network and understanding of global community dynamics.
Hussein bhai has held several leadership positions within the community. Notably, he served as the Hon. Secretary of the Africa Federation under the leadership of Alhaj Shabir Najafi from 2016 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, he served as Chairman of the Central Bilal Board (CBB), where he played a key role in shaping its strategic direction and enhancing its outreach efforts. Since 2022, he continues to serve as the Chairman of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania.
Afzalali bhai Bhimani was raised in a family rooted in the values of faith, service, and compassion. His journey of community involvement began in the Imambarghas of Mumbai and has since spanned several countries and impactful roles.
He has served as Treasurer of KSIJ Kigali, Assistant Mukhi of KSIJ Kampala, and a core member of the Bilal Madrassah for Youth Boys in Kampala, consistently demonstrating dedication and leadership.
In 2023, he was appointed Chairman of the Bilal Muslim Organization Uganda (BMOU), and in 2024, became Secretary of the Central Bilal Board (CBB). These roles have enabled him to strengthen outreach and support across Uganda and beyond.
Gulamabbas bhai Khaku was born on 27th September 1945 in Mombasa to Mohamedhussein Ali Khaku and Fatmabai Bandali Bhanji. He comes from a well-known and respected family, with siblings residing in the USA and UK.
He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Karachi, a Teaching Certificate, and technical qualifications in Welding Metallurgy from the University of Nairobi, along with further professional training in Europe and Kenya.
Professionally, Gulamabbas bhai began as a teacher before moving into technical and managerial roles in leading companies. In 1980, he established Habari Service Station, and he currently chairs Habari Insurance Brokers Ltd and Weldwell Ltd.
A passionate sportsman, he has captained the Mombasa Sports Club Cricket team, served as Chairman and Golf Captain at Nyali Golf & Country Club, and is a life member of multiple sports clubs.
For over 50 years, he has actively served the community in various capacities — including Vice Chairman of IYMU, Trustee of Mombasa Jamaat, Electoral Commissioner for KSIC and AFED, and as AFED's Representative to the World Federation’s Constitution Review Committee. He has also served as a trustee of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya and an ex-trustee of the Mombasa Jamaat for over 12 years and has attended over 50 AFED conferences/sessions as a councillor and delegate.
He is married to Kulsum Hussein Rashid Hemraj, with whom he has two sons and six grandchildren. Together with his wife and brothers, he played a key role in the Somali evacuation led by Alhaj Sajjad bhai Rashid — a notable act of selfless service.
Gulamabbas bhai is a highly respected figure known for his dedication, humility, and lifelong commitment to community service.
Nasir bhai Raza Rajani is an experienced community leader with a strong background in religious outreach and community service.
In Malawi, he was actively involved in the Lilongwe Jamaat and participated in Tabligh activities under the Rabb-e-Kareem Trust.
Since moving to Rwanda, he has continued his service as the Hon. Secretary of the Kigali Jamaat and currently contributes to various committees focused on community welfare and planning.
He also represents Rwanda in the Central Health Board (CHB) and serves as the Coordinator for the Central Bilal Board (CBB), overseeing religious and educational initiatives. Nasir bhai is married and a devoted father of two children.
Gulamabbas bhai Habib is based in Nairobi. He has held several key leadership and community service roles, notably with the Central Health Board (CHB) and the Central Bilal Board (CBB), where he also represented the community in Burundi.
He previously served as the Medical Convener in Nairobi, where he played a vital role in initiatives aimed at enhancing community development, fostering collaboration, and promoting overall well-being.
Iqbal bhai Sunderji is qualified as a Chartered Accountant (UK) who began his professional career with Deloitte in Mombasa, where he served as a Resident Manager. With a strong commitment to community service, particularly in the field of education, he dedicated 18 years to the Education Board of Mombasa Jamaat — initially as Secretary and later as Chairman.
He played a pivotal role, alongside Aunali bhai Moledina, in founding both the Jaffery Academy and the Jaffery Institute of Professional Studies, institutions that have become cornerstones of educational and professional development in the community.
Iqbal bhai has also served two terms as Chairman of the Education Board of the Africa Federation (AFED), and two terms as Vice Chairman of Mombasa Jamaat. He is currently contributing his expertise and leadership to the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya (BMMK).
Akber bhai Kassamali is a seasoned businessman who has been at the helm of Intellitech Ltd, a leading provider of ICT products, for the past 27 years. Through dedication and vision, he has built a reputation for integrity and excellence in business.
Beyond his professional achievements, Akber bhai has been deeply committed to community service from a young age. At just 15 years old, he began serving on the Burial Committee, a responsibility he continues to carry to this day with humility and devotion. His leadership qualities have also been recognized within the KSI Jamaat Mombasa, where he has twice been elected as Hon. Secretary, and at the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya, where he has served both as a member and as Hon. Secretary.
With a lifetime dedicated to both business and community, Akber bhai embodies the values of service, leadership, and commitment.
