Surat al-Fajr Campaign - Muharram 1447
“By the dawn, And [by] ten nights, And [by] the even and the odd, And [by] the night when it passes, Is there [not] in that an oath for those who possess intellect?” - (Surat al-Fajr 1-5)
Muharram is a month of renewal, reflection, and spiritual growth. In this blessed period, the Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTAB) launched a Qur’anic campaign centered on Surat al-Fajr — a chapter rich with reminders of Divine judgment, social justice, and its profound connection to Imam Husayn (AS) and the tragedy of Karbala.
Objectives of the Campaign
The campaign was designed with the following goals:
To inspire love and connection with the Holy Qur’an through Surat al-Fajr.
To facilitate memorization of the Surah across different age groups.
To encourage deep reflection on its meanings and messages.
To promote the practical application of its teachings in daily life.
To revive the culture of living by the Holy Qur’an within our communities.
To link the Surah to the mission and sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS).
The campaign was rolled out across all AFED constituent Jamaats, with a special focus on engaging the children and youth of the community. Activities took place between 26th June and 31st August 2025.
Highlights of the Campaign
Memorization (Hifdh): Held on 26th and 27th July 2025, this segment saw about 150 participants from across Africa successfully memorizing Surat al-Fajr.
Reflection (Tadabbur): Scripts for daily recitation and reflection were shared with various jamaats. These were incorporated into the first ten nights of Muharram during the majalis, allowing communities to deeply reflect on the Surah collectively.
Tafseer: An online Family Quiz on the Tafseer of Surat al-Fajr was conducted on 31st August 2025, drawing participation from around 30 families and groups of friends.
Implementation: To translate Qur’anic values into action, jamaats were encouraged to organize charity drives and orphan visits, embodying the lessons of social responsibility found in Surat al-Fajr.
Holy Qur’an in My Life: Through social media, the campaign promoted practical lifestyle changes inspired by the Surah’s teachings, such as Namaz-e-Shab, forgiveness, and bravery.
We are pleased to recognize and congratulate the following Participants:

Feedback and Way Forward
The campaign received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and jamaats alike. Inspired by its impact, the team proposes to organize similar Holy Qur’anic campaigns at least three times a year, fostering a continuous culture of Holy Qur’an-centric living across the continent.
“Indeed, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Holy Qur’an 13:28)
We pray that this initiative serves as a stepping stone towards building stronger Holy Qur’anic engagement, deeper reflection, and the embodiment of the values of Karbala in our daily lives.
Appreciation
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the respected judges for their invaluable time and effort, and to Dr. Mohammed Shabbir and his dedicated team for spearheading the Surat al-Fajr Campaign.
We also sincerely thank the coordinators from the various jamaats whose commitment ensured the smooth execution of activities, as well as all the participants whose enthusiasm and dedication gave life to this initiative.
We further appreciate the support from AFTAB Members and AFED, whose guidance and encouragement contributed greatly to the success of this campaign. May Allah (SWT) reward everyone abundantly and grant continued Tawfiq to serve the Holy Qur’an and the mission of Imam Husayn (AS).
