The application by the Khoja Shia Ithna-Ashary Jamaat of Mauritius for membership in the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa was formally approved at the 29th Ordinary Conference held in Mombasa from 13th to 15th June 2025 by the delegates, contingent upon necessary procedural alignments. As a result, Khoja Shia Ithna-Ashary Jamaat Mauritius has officially become the 44th member of the Africa Federation.

This membership request for direct membership to Africa Federation was made due to the Government regulations in Madagascar and Reunion, that do not allow any institution outside their respective Islands to become their registered members; Mauritius being an independent Island in the Indian Ocean, the request for direct membership was sought.
