Leadership and Youth Development Programs held in Mumbai, India

Growth is often not loud or immediate; it unfolds gradually through experience, reflection and meaningful engagement. It is shaped in spaces where individuals are encouraged to think differently, listen more deeply and understand themselves in relation to others. When learning is approached in this way, it becomes both personal and transformative.

It is within this spirit that two meaningful learning initiatives - the Leadership Development Program (LDP) and the Youth Development Program (YDP) were held in Mumbai creating a shared platform for reflection, dialogue and personal growth.

Organised by the Africa Federation Capacity Building Board in collaboration with the India Federation and Mumbai Jamaat, the programmes brought together participants, each contributing to and benefiting from a collective journey of learning, discovery and development.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (LDP)

The Leadership Development Program was held in Mumbai from 29th to 31st May 2026 bringing together participants for an immersive learning experience designed to deepen self-awareness and strengthen leadership capability.

The sessions were facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan, Br. Inayat Firdousi and Sr. Maryam Khalfan who together created a learning environment that was engaging, reflective and grounded in real-life application.

Each day began with reflections from the Holy Qur’an, setting a calm and thoughtful tone that encouraged participants to connect learning with purpose and inner awareness.

The programme focused on strengthening self-understanding, improving communication, enhancing decision-making and building healthier interpersonal relationships. Participants explored practical frameworks such as the Iceberg Model, MBTI, Political Intelligence and Reflection Circles, which helped them better understand behaviour, motivation and interaction patterns.

A strong emphasis was placed on reflection, encouraging participants to look beyond surface-level responses and engage more consciously with how they think, act and relate to others. This created space for honest self-observation and meaningful peer learning.

By the end of the programme, participants had developed deeper clarity about their personal growth journey and how they can contribute more intentionally within their communities and environments.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (YDP)

The Youth Development Program was conducted on 2nd and 3rd June 2026, bringing together 36 young participants for a dynamic two-day learning experience focused on confidence-building, awareness and personal development.

The programme was facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan, Br. Inayat Firdousi and Sr. Maryam Khalfan, who ensured an open, encouraging and interactive learning space throughout.

Through group activities, discussions and reflections, participants engaged with themes of communication, collaboration, self-expression and understanding others in group settings.

The learning approach was practical, allowing participants to learn through participation and shared experience. This helped them connect ideas to real situations in their daily lives.

The programme also encouraged participants to recognise their strengths, build confidence in expressing themselves and appreciate the value of listening and teamwork. The atmosphere remained lively, inclusive, and consistently engaging.

The Capacity Building Board (CBG) extends sincere appreciation to the Africa Federation Office Bearers for its continued encouragement and support in strengthening capacity-building initiatives to community members.

Our gratitude is also extended to the India Federation and the KSI Mumbai Jamaat for hosting both programs in Mumbai and ensuring smooth arrangements throughout.

Special appreciation is also extended to all participants of the Leadership Development Program and Youth Development Program for their active engagement, openness and enthusiasm which greatly enriched the learning experience.

Together, the two programmes reflected a meaningful journey of growth, bringing reflection and practical learning into one shared space of development. The experience will continue to resonate as participants move forward, shaping how they engage with their communities in thoughtful and positive ways.
