Nestled at the foot of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in Moshi, Tanzania, the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) stands tall as a beacon of excellence in healthcare, medical education, and research. Established in 1971, KCMC is one of Tanzania’s largest referral hospitals, serving over 15 million people across northern Tanzania and neighboring regions.



KCMC is a comprehensive medical institution. With over 630 beds, advanced medical infrastructure, and a committed team of healthcare professionals, KCMC delivers a broad spectrum of specialized services, including:


  • Surgery and Internal Medicine

  • Pediatrics and Obstetrics

  • Oncology and Radiology

  • Orthopedics and Trauma Care

  • Rehabilitation Services


KCMC also houses the prestigious Kilimanjaro Christian Medical University College (KCMUCo) — a leading center for medical education in East Africa. Affiliated with Tumaini University Makumira, KCMUCo offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including:


  • Doctor of Medicine (MD)

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Health Laboratory Sciences, and Physiotherapy

  • Postgraduate degrees in Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology

  • PhD programs in various health-related fields



KCMUCo plays a significant role in addressing healthcare needs in Tanzania and the East African region by educating healthcare professionals and contributing to medical research and services.

Furthermore, the Khoja Shia Ithnasheri Jamaat of Moshi has generously extended its support by offering accommodation facilities to students pursuing studies at KCMC, providing a safe and supportive environment.
