
The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania (BMMT) hosted the Inauguration and Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony for the BMMT Shuyukh Housing Project. The event took place on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Hawzatu Ahlul-Bayt Temeke, Dar es Salaam, with notable figures attending, including the guest of honour, Alhaj Safder Jaffer - President of the World Federation (WF), accompanied by his vice, Alhaj Habib Meghjee.
Also present were Africa Federation (AFED) Office Bearers, Alhaj Amine Nassor - Chairman, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan - Vice Chairman, Alhaj Zainul Chandoo - Hon. Treasurer, Alhaj Zuhair Jaffer - Hon. Secretary and Br. Mohamedamir Hamza - Hon. Assistant Secretary. Additionally, Alhaj Arifali Hirji - President of the Council of European Jamaats, Alhaj Shabbirhussein Khalfan – Chairman of Capacity Building Board (CBG), Alhaj Mohamed Hemani - Chairman of Central Bilal Bilal (CBB) and Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi - AFED Trustee, past President WF, past Chairman of AFED, and past President of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaat of Dar es Salaam (KSIJ Dar) attended. Also present was Alhaj Suhail Bhurani - President of India Federation, Alhaj Fayyaz Dhirani - President of KSIJ Arusha, Alhaj Haji Sahib Rajani - Founder WIPAHS, Alhaj Ain Shariff - Chairman Masjid Bilal Udowe and Alhaj Mohammed Manji.
From BMMT, Alhaj Hussein Karim - Chairman, Alhaj Abdul-Wahid Mohamed - Vice Chairman, Brother Hafidhi Mansour - Chief of Operations, Sheikh Hussein Zuberi - Acting Head of Tabligh, Alhaj Aziz Hussein Rajani - Chairman Coast & South Zone and Hawzatu Ahlul-Bayt staff led by its Mudir, Sheikh Muhammad Yusuph, along with students were present at the event.

The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with welcoming remarks from Sheikh Muhammad Yusuph, Mudir at Hawzatu Ahlul-Bayt, followed by a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Sheikh Ibrahim Mtima and Hadithul Kisaa by Sheikh Ahmad Masoud. Br. Hafidhi Mansour thereafter gave an introduction of the guests.
In his speech, Alhaj Hussein Karim highlighted that BMMT manages about 265 centres across Tanzania, but fewer than 20 have housing for shuyukh. The new housing project, which will provide homes for shuyukh, is expected to alleviate the financial burden on both the mission and the shuyukh. Alhaj Karim expressed gratitude to the World Federation for their support, particularly in funding the construction of 100 houses in a phased approach, with the first 20 houses to be built in Mwanza, Tabora, Tanga, Kilimanjaro and Coast and South Zone.
Alhaj Amine Nassor, whose speech was translated into Swahili by Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of BMMT and commended the mission for its efforts. He assured BMMT of the continued support from the Africa Federation (AFED) and emphasized the importance of collaboration to ensure the successful growth and development of Shia Ithna-Asheri Communities.
In his statement, Alhaj Safder Jaffer expressed that they are undertaking this housing project to provide shuyukh with comfortable homes, thereby enhancing their ability to serve the community. He further noted that the work of tabligh carries great blessings from Allah.


The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Alhaj Abdul-Wahid Mohamed, who thanked all project partners and assured that the project would be carried out with the highest standards. A dua was recited by Sheikh Amri Harouna, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially marked the beginning of the project.
The event was conducted smoothly by the Master of Ceremony, Sheikh Hussein Zuberi who was both cheerful and mindful of time, ensuring that the proceedings were efficient and well-paced.
In recognition of their visit, the WF President, WF Vice President and AFED Chairman were presented with the traditional hand woven Zanzibari Kofia as token of appreciation.
BMMT expressed deep gratitude to donors and supporters, inviting continued contributions to help expand the project across Tanzania. The mission hopes to garner support from individuals and institutions both inside and outside Tanzania, seeking abundant rewards from Allah SWT for the success of this important initiative.
