BMM Tanzania - Eid al Ghadeer Program Report

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania (BMMT) successfully organized and hosted the Eid Ghadeer 1447H/2026 celebrations on 7^th June 2026 at Unity Hall, Chang’ombe, Dar es Salaam. The event brought together more than 2,500 university students, alongside religious leaders, scholars, development stakeholders, and guests from various Islamic institutions within and outside Tanzania. 

This year’s celebration was held under the theme “Ghadeer: The Message of Leadership and the Future of the Ummah,” reflecting the institution’s continued commitment to empowering young people through authentic religious education, moral development, leadership training, and active participation in community and national development.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to attend a series of educational presentations aimed at deepening their understanding of the significance of Ghadeer in Islamic history and its role in promoting the principles of just leadership, accountability, and service to society. The presentations were delivered by respected scholars and academics with extensive expertise in religious studies and community development. 

Among the key presentations was a lecture by Sheikh Hussein Zuber, who discussed the meaning and significance of the Event of Ghadeer in Islamic history. Another presentation was delivered by Dr. Abdulrazack Amir, who explored the foundations of leadership and governance in Islam, emphasizing the responsibility of leaders to serve society with integrity, vision, and accountability.

The Guest of Honour was Sheikh Ali Ngeruko, Chief Kadhi of BAKWATA and Member of the Council of Ulamaa. In his keynote address, he encouraged young people to translate the lessons of Ghadeer into their daily lives by cultivating responsibility, dedication to education, active participation in community development, and lawful economic empowerment.

He further emphasized the importance of preparing young people to become future leaders through good morals, education, discipline, and patriotism, noting that the progress of the Ummah depends largely on the ability of youth to make effective use of the opportunities available within society.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, Sheikh Abdul Wahid, Vice Chairman of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania, expressed gratitude to all participants, invited guests, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event. He noted that the celebrations form part of the institution’s broader strategy to nurture knowledgeable, ethical, and capable young leaders who can contribute meaningfully to the development of the Ummah through education, leadership training, and economic empowerment initiatives.

The event was attended by various religious leaders, scholars, and representatives of different institutions, including Dr. Ahmadi Khatib, Dr. Abdulrazack Amir, Sheikh Jamal Bura, Sheikh Yasin Kimwaga, Sheikh Ramadhani Kwezi, Sheikh Muharam, Sheikh Salum Bendera, Sheikh Ali Mwega (Kenya), Sheikh Abdulsatar Mbega, Sheikh Al-Hamdu, Sheikh Hassan Adamu, Sheikh Abdul Sagara, and Sheikh Msabaha Napinda, among others.

The celebrations were also enriched by the participation of prominent Muslim women leaders representing different institutions and organizations. Among them were Sheikht Nyambezi Mbano (Board Member of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania), Sheikht Asha Mtulia (Secretary of JUWAKITA), Sheikht Mwajuma Hamidu (JUWAKITA Member), Sheikht Madam Nagiba (Matron of WIPAHS), Sheikht Husna Maulid Kisoma (Madrasat Zahraa), Sheikht Mwasiti (Spouse of the BMMT Vice Chairman), Sheikht Aisha Poneya (Chairperson of Kibondemaji), and Sheikht Zena Pazi (Secretary of Mianzini). Their participation reflected the vital role women continue to play in promoting religious education, youth development, strong family values, and the overall advancement of the Ummah.

The remarkable participation of young people throughout the celebrations further demonstrated the importance of investing in religious education, moral development, and leadership formation for future generations. Through platforms such as these, BMMT continues to fulfill its mission of preparing informed, capable, and socially conscious youth who can serve as catalysts for sustainable community development.

As part of the celebrations, outstanding participants were recognized and awarded prizes after emerging victorious in the Ghadeer Quiz Challenge organized by BMMT. The event also featured active engagement from participants, reflecting the enthusiasm and commitment of young people to learning and community development.

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania extends its sincere appreciation to all donors, stakeholders, development partners, and supporters who contributed in various ways to the success of the celebrations. Their support enabled the institution to reach thousands of young people with educational programs, motivation, and guidance aimed at building a society founded on strong values, unity, and sustainable development.
