Dear Community Members,
Assalamun Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh
As we progress through the blessed days of Ramadhan, now nearing the final stretch of this sacred month, we pray that Allah (SWT) accepts our fasting, prayers, and good deeds, and grants continued good health, peace, and barakah to you and your families.
Ramadhan reminds us not only of our spiritual responsibilities, but also of our collective duty to care for and protect our families and community.
Our Journey of AFEDLife Insurance Scheme.
In 2024, the AFEDLife Insurance Scheme was launched for community members across Africa under the leadership of Amine Bhai Nassor and his team.
Following a competitive tendering process; M/S Zamara Risk & Insurance Brokers Limited was appointed as the Insurance Broker and M/S Old Mutual Life Assurance was appointed as the insurer for the year 2024.
The scheme was introduced to provide financial protection and peace of mind to families during unforeseen circumstances, and Alhamdulillah it received encouraging participation from members across various Jamaats.
Renewal for 2025
Following the successful implementation in 2024, and based on the evaluation criteria established by the Central Health Board, the services were renewed for 2025 with M/S Zamara Risk & Insurance Brokers Limited continuing as the broker and M/S Old Mutual Life Assurance continuing as the insurer.
The Central Health Board would also like to express its sincere appreciation to M/S Old Mutual Life Assurance for their professionalism, support, and collaboration during their tenure with the AFEDLife Insurance Scheme.
Insurance Coverage for 2026
As part of our commitment to continuously strengthen and improve the scheme, the Central Health Board reviewed various proposals from the insurance market for the 2026 coverage year.
Following this evaluation, the following were finalized: -
M/S Zamara Risk & Insurance Brokers Limited as a Broker
M/S Cannon Life Assurance – Insurer for 2026
The Board remains grateful to all partners who participated in the process and supported the development of this important community initiative.
Applications Received for 2026
Alhamdulillah, we received both new and renewal applications from members across various Jamaats in Africa for the year 2026.
After compiling the applications submitted by the Jamaats, all application forms together with the corresponding premiums were forwarded to our broker, M/S Zamara Risk & Insurance Brokers Limited, for processing.
We are pleased to inform members that the coverage period for AFEDLife Insurance is from 1st January 2026 and shall expire on 31st December 2026.
Important Note for New Members (For new applicants’ who were not enrolled in 2025)
A 3 months blackout period will apply. The blackout period runs from 1st January 2026 to 31st March 2026. During this period, no claims will be payable.
Members who were already enrolled in 2025 and renewed for 2026 will not be subject to this blackout period.
Insurance Certificates
The Central Health Board is currently working closely with our broker, M/S Zamara Risk, for the preparation and issuance of the insurance certificates for enrolled members.
Once the certificates are received, they will be dispatched to the respective Jamaats accordingly.
Members will then be requested to collect their certificates and carefully verify the details such as Correct Names, Date of Birth, Insurance Category and Premium amount. Ensuring that these details are accurate will help facilitate smooth processing of any future claims.
Looking Ahead: New Community Initiatives
The Central Health Board remains committed to strengthening the healthcare and financial protection framework for our community.
We are pleased to share that the Board is actively working towards launching two important initiatives;-
AFEDHealth Insurance
A comprehensive health insurance initiative currently being explored for community members in Tanzania, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare.
AFEDSave
A community focused financial protection and savings initiative designed to help families build greater long term financial resilience.
These initiatives represent meaningful steps toward building a stronger, healthier, and more secure future for our community, and we look forward to the continued support and participation of our members.
Conclusion
The AFEDLife Insurance Scheme continues to be an important milestone in the Africa Federation’s journey towards community welfare and financial protection.
As we approach the final days of this blessed month of Ramadan, we pray that Allah (SWT) grants our community; unity, good health, and prosperity, and accepts all acts of worship.
We humbly request your continued support, participation, and duas for the success of these initiatives.
Ramadhan Mubarak to you and your families.
