AFEDHEALTH - Bringing Affordable Healthcare Closer to Our Community

Assalamun Alaykum, 

Alhamdulillah, following the successful implementation of the AFEDLife Community Life Insurance Scheme, one of the key aspirations of the Central Health Board (CHB) has been to establish a Community Group Health Insurance Scheme – AFEDHealth for our members in Tanzania. 

We are pleased to share that this initiative has now reached an important stage. 

Over the past few months, CHB invited proposals through a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) process and conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the submissions received. We have now identified a preferred partner and are working towards securing the best possible premiums, benefits and terms for our community. 

What Will AFEDHealth Offer?

The proposed scheme is designed to cater to different needs within our community and will include: - 

1. Senior Citizens upto the age of 85 years

2. Individual Cover

3. Family Cover

For each category, members will have the option of: -

1. Inpatient & Outpatient Cover

2. Inpatient Cover Only

In addition, CHB is also exploring a dedicated health insurance package for students below 21 years of age. 

We Need Your Participation

Alhamdulillah, we have already received tentative premium rates from the preferred partner. Our next step is to negotiate these rates further and secure the most affordable and beneficial package possible for our community. 

This is where your participation becomes extremely important.

A Google Form will be circulated shortly to members who have a genuine intention of joining AFEDHealth. 

The information collected will help CHB establish the potential number of members and lives that could be covered. This will, in turn, strengthen our negotiating position and enable us to seek better premiums and improved benefits from the broker/insurer. 

The More We Participate, the Stronger We Negotiate

If we can demonstrate strong community participation, we will be in a much stronger position to negotiate.

We therefore encourage all members who are genuinely interested in joining AFEDHealth to: - 

1. Complete the Google Form when it is shared.

2. Encourage your family members to participate.

3. Share the information with friends and other community members.

This is not simply a survey. It is an important step towards making community health insurance a reality. 

After AFEDLife, AFEDHealth is another important aspiration of CHB; to help make quality healthcare more accessible and affordable for our community.
