AFED HEALTH – Community Health

Insurance Scheme for Tanzania

Pre – Enrolment and Commitment Exercise

Assalamun Alaykum,

The Central Health Board (CHB) is pleased to inform members that it is at an advanced stage of finalizing AFEDHealth, a group health insurance scheme designed specifically for our community members in Tanzania.

The initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare by negotiating competitive group health insurance premiums and favorable terms for our community.

As we approach the finalization of the scheme, we now need to establish the number of members and families who are genuinely prepared to participate. These numbers are essential to strengthening our negotiating position with the broker and insurer and securing the most favorable premiums and terms possible.

The table below shows the available packages and corresponding premiums.

Please note that the above premiums are indicative annual rates and may be revised following negotiations. Final premiums, eligibility requirements, benefits, waiting periods, exclusions and other policy conditions will be confirmed once the scheme is finalized.

Pre-Enrolment and Commitment

To facilitate this exercise, CHB has prepared a short Google Form through which interested members can indicate their preferred package and the number of people they intend to insure.

We request community members to review the indicative packages and premiums carefully and participate in this exercise only if they genuinely intend to enroll, subject to the final agreed premiums and policy terms.

The information collected will enable us to establish the anticipated number of members and dependents, strengthen our negotiations with the broker and insurer, and assess the feasibility of launching the scheme.

A strong and reliable commitment from our community will be instrumental in helping us negotiate competitive premiums and bring AFEDHealth to fruition.

Important dates

Survey opens on Saturday 31st October 2026

Deadline for submission is on Tuesday, 10th November 2026

All interested members are requested to complete the Google Form by 10th November 2026. Timely responses are essential, as CHB intends to consolidate the numbers and submit them for further negotiations.

Responses received after the deadline may not be included in the initial enrolment estimates provided to the broker.

Next Steps

Following the collection of responses, CHB will consolidate the anticipated enrolment numbers and engage with the broker and insurer to negotiate the premiums and finalize the scheme's terms and enrolment arrangements.

Once these details have been agreed, the final package information and formal enrolment procedures will be communicated to the community.

We encourage all interested members to participate actively and submit their responses within the stipulated timeframe. Together, we can strengthen our negotiating position and work towards establishing a sustainable health insurance scheme for our community in Tanzania.

We thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

May Allah (SWT) bless our collective efforts and grant our community good health and wellbeing.
