The Chairman of Education Board of Africa Federation, Br. Mohamed Kazim Sheriff, accompanied by a member of Education Board, Br. Abid Ladha and the Education Board Administrative Secretary and Education Career Counsellor, Sister Sajida Master visited Mombasa Jamaat from August 30th to September 1st, 2024. The visit aimed to enhance educational initiatives, provide career guidance, and strengthen partnerships with local educational institutions.
One of the main highlights of the visit was the career counselling sessions held for 17 students. These sessions included psychometric tests and one-on-one counseling to guide students choose their career paths. Sajida Master, a certified career counsellor accredited in the Strong Interest Inventory, offered valuable insights into various career options and provided students with effective techniques for researching careers. The goal of this initiative was to empower our youth with the necessary tools and knowledge as they navigate their educational journeys.
During their visit to Mombasa, the Education Board Chairman Br. Mohamed Kazim Sheriff, the Education Board Member Br. Abid Ladha also visited the Jaffery Schools. They held discussions with the Mombasa Education Board on strengthening collaboration, addressing educational challenges, and exploring opportunities to enhance the learning environment for students in the region.
On September 1st, the Education Board members held a session with parents of students at Jaffery Academy. They discussed important topics such as the significance of education, career counselling, and how the Africa Federation can support students in achieving their educational goals. Br. Mohamed Kazim in his discussion emphasized the importance of selecting affordable universities given the financial challenges faced by many families today.

While the visit brought about many positive outcomes, there is growing concern regarding overdue student loan account. Many students who received financial aid have not been fulfilling their loan repayment obligations. This causes a significant challenge for future students who may require similar assistance.
We urge all beneficiaries to fulfill their commitments, so these funds can continue supporting other students who will also need loans for their higher education.
Despite the dedicated efforts by the Mombasa Jamaat Secretariat and the Mombasa Jamaat Higher Education Board to engage parents and students, the turnout fell short of expectations. However, those who attended gained valuable insights from the discussions.
The Education Board of Africa Federation extends its sincere gratitude to the Mombasa Jamaat and the Mombasa Higher Education Board for their warm hospitality and collaboration during the visit. Our shared efforts are paving the way for a brighter future for the youth in our community.
By continuing to work together and prioritize education, we can overcome the challenges ahead and support one another in building a stronger, more empowered generation.
