A life lived with quiet devotion, selfless service and deep humility – this is the legacy of Alhaj Ibrahim Hassanali Juma, whose journey continues to inspire our community.
Born on 31st December 1940 in Zanzibar to Hassanali Juma Mamdhani and Zainab Ali Sachoo, Ibrahimbhai was one of twelve siblings and grew up in a family that cherished unity, education and service.
From his early years, Ibrahimbhai displayed a deep love for faith and community. He pursued his primary and secondary education at Sir Euan Smith Madressa and King George High School in Zanzibar and thereafter served as a Primary School teacher in Umbuji, Zanzibar before moving to India in 1968 to pursue further education at Aligarh Muslim University. During his time there, he became known for his soulful recitations of Duas and Ziyarats at the Baitul Salat, and every Thursday he would recite Dua-e- Kumayl and Ziyarat-e-Waritha sowing the seeds of a lifelong passion for the Holy Qur’an and supplications.

Graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor’s in Commerce (Honours), Ibrahimbhai returned to Tanzania beginning his professional journey with the National Audit in Dar es Salaam before joining FidaHussein & Company as an accountant where he served faithfully until his retirement in 2020.
In October 1978, he married Razia Mohamedhussein Bandali Versi in Dar es Salaam and together they were blessed with two sons: Shabbar (London, UK) and Muhammed (Dar es Salaam).
Beyond his professional and family life, Ibrahimbhai’s true calling was in service to the community. For over 40 years, he dedicated himself to the KSI Dar es Salaam Jamaat. His devotion was visible daily, as he was often the first to arrive at the mosque to prepare for Fajr Salat, welcoming worshippers with warmth and humility. A gifted reciter, he filled the Imambargah with the calls of Azan, Duas, Ziyarats and Marsiyas. Furthermore, he took great joy in mentoring the youth in Qur’an recitation and supplications.
In January 2025, the KSI Dar es Salaam Jamaat honoured him with the Hyderi Medal, acknowledging decades of unwavering dedication. His humility remained unmatched reminding us that the essence of service lies in sincerity and sacrifice.
On Tuesday, 5th August 2025 (10th Safar 1447), Ibrahimbhai returned to his Lord. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy continues to inspire: a life that teaches us that service done quietly with sincerity and devotion carries the greatest weight.
As we remember Marhum Alhaj Ibrahim Juma, we draw strength from his example – to serve selflessly, to mentor the next generation and to live with humility. His legacy will live on in the countless prayers, lessons and acts of kindness he imparted.
May Allah (SWT) grant him a high station in the proximity of Ahlulbayt (AS) and give his family solace in cherishing the legacy he leaves behind. Ameen.
Let us remember Marhum Alhaj Ibrahim Juma and all the Marhumeen with Sura-e-Fateha.
