AFED Chairman Alhaj Amine Nassor attends COEJ Conference

The Chairman of the Africa Federation Alhaj Amine bhai Nassor attended the Annual CoEJ Conference of the term 2024-27 hosted by the Al Abbas Islamic Centre, KSIMC of Birmingham from 5th to 6th June 2026. 


The Conference served as an important forum for reviewing progress, deliberating on key priorities, and fostering stronger collaboration among the Jamaats. Delegates were updated on proposed constitutional amendments, Secretariat activities, and other strategic initiatives that will shape the future direction of the organization.


In his address to the Conference, Alhaj Amine Bhai Nassor, Chairman of the Africa Federation, expressed his appreciation to Alhaj Arifali Hirji, President of COEJ, for the invitation to participate in the CoEJ Conference in Birmingham. Noting that this was the second CoEJ Conference he had the privilege of attending, he conveyed his gratitude to the organizers and acknowledged the presence of the respected scholars, dignitaries, and community leaders in attendance. 


He emphasized the need for greater unity and closer cooperation among Khoja Shia communities worldwide, calling for stronger partnerships between Jamaats and regional federations across Europe, Africa, and other regions. He encouraged collective efforts focused on shared objectives, stressing the importance of avoiding fragmentation and maintaining a clear strategic direction for the benefit of the global community. 


Alhaj Amine Bhai also commended CoEJ and the Birmingham Jamaat for their exemplary leadership, organizational development, and commitment to serving the community. He highlighted the significance of institutional growth and meaningful engagement in strengthening community organizations and reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration between the Africa Federation, the World Federation, and CoEJ, particularly in the fields of education, youth empowerment, and capacity building. 


In closing, he reminded delegates of the approaching days of Azaa and urged them to observe the commemorations with sincerity and devotion in honour of Imam Hussain (a.s.). He concluded by encouraging greater participation, enhanced unity, and stronger collaboration between the communities of Africa and Europe in the years ahead.

COEJ took the opportunity of the Conference to present Awards (COEJ Commendation) to the dedicated members of the Community in Europe who serve, inspire and uplift our communities with sincerity, excellence and faith. The recipients for 2026 Commendation are: 


  • The Light of Muhammad (saw) Commendation (a recognition given by the CoEJ President): Dr. Muslim Khoja

  • The Abul Fadhl al-Abbas Commendation (Excellence in Community Services): Brother Zulfikar Taqi

  • The Baqir al-’Uloom Commendation (Excellence in Religious Education, Madrasah): Sister Sajida Jaffer  

  • The Zaynabiyya Commendation (Excellence in Faith): Brother Murtaza Ramzanali 

  • The ibn Sina Commendation (Excellence in Academics): Dr. Safiya Virji 



The Secretariat extends appreciation to Alhaj Arifali Hirji and his team, Alhaj Murtaza Master, President of KSIMC of Birmingham and his Managing Committee, the Organizing Committee and volunteers for their welcome and hospitality.
