1.  INTRODUCTION

The AFEDLife Insurance Scheme, initiated to provide comprehensive life insurance coverage to our community members across the Jamaats under the Africa Federation, has seen considerable participation since its commencement on 1st January 2024. This initiative reflects our commitment to securing the financial well-being of community members, providing coverage for death, critical illness, disability, and funeral expenses.

3.  PARTICIPANT DEMOGRAPHICS

The scheme has successfully enrolled 260 members across several regions, with a majority from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Below is the breakdown; with three exits, making 257 members currently listed.

  • The most popular coverage choice was USD 100,000, preferred by 61.09% of members.

  • This preference highlights members inclination towards higher coverage options.

  • We may have demand for lower coverage options. The board will consider many schemes for lower coverage options.


4.  FINANCIAL SUMMARY

The scheme covers a total insured amount of USD 18.9 million with a premium of USD 83,659. For every dollar contributed in premium, community members enrolled are insured for USD 225.91. The table below shows the total insured amount for each category, region/country wise.

5.0 CLAIMS STATISTICS – CURRENT PERIOD

The table below shows the summary of Claims statistics as of 10th December 2024.

As of December 10, 2024, a total of seven claims have been reported, with the following breakdown:-

  • Death Claims:- 3 claims, totaling USD 150,000.

  • Principal Last Expense Claims:- 3 claims, totaling USD 4,500.

  • Spouse Last Expense:- 1 claim, totaling USD 500.

On Tuesday, 26th November 2024, Africa Federation Secretariat were honored with the visit by the delegation of AFED Councillors from Madagascar. The Vice Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the Chairman of Central Health Board, Alhaj Aliraza Bandali along with members of the Secretariat warmly welcomed the delegation who also attended the 88th Supreme Council held in Arusha from 22nd to 24th November 2024. 


Led by Alhaj Navazaly Molou, who is the nominated Councillor of Africa Federation from Madagascar, the delegation held discussion with the Chairman of the Central Health Board (CHB), Alhaj Aliraza Bandali, to understand regarding the CHB Life Insurance, Health Insurance and the Health Screening Program which is ongoing in Dar es Salaam at Shifaa Pan African Hospital for our community members at discounted rate. Aliraza Bhai also explained regarding the medical and other facilities available through the CHB in Karachi, Pakistan. The delegation requested CHB to organize a Medical Screening Program for Madagascar members, especially in areas of Gynecology, Oncology and Cardiac assessment.  


Alhaj Gulam Punjani from Punjani Charitable Trust also attended the gathering, contributing to the discussions with his insights and support. Punjani Charitable Trust is dedicated to empowering communities through education and technology-driven initiatives. The Punjani Charitable Trust (PCT), Khoja Leadership Forum (KLF) and Africa Federation (AFED) are working together in training programs for Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence and other courses whereby a training centre has been established by PCT in Mezzanine floor of AFED Tower in Dar es Salaam.  


During the discussion, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan explained the delegation on the various initiatives and activities of the Africa Federation including in areas of housing development, internal tabligh (includes Madressah), external tabligh (Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania), Capacity Building and Human Resources Development by CBG, Media and Marketing and broadcasts through various platforms both in English and French languages, Education and especially Higher Education Loan repayment challenges, Central Health Board initiatives, Archives & History, Youth development under AYN, Sports Council and Women Board who are actively involved in engaging with the women fraternity of our community in various Jamaats under Africa Federation.

The delegation also toured the Archives Section where they showed keen interest in the Archives of Africa Federation, they were shown around by Sister Zaheera Alishan and Sister Ismat Khimji who also gave some brief outline of the historical photographs displayed at the Archives Gallery, they were immersed in the rich history of the community and had the opportunity to view historical books, antique artifacts, and rare collections that reflect the heritage and traditions of the community. They also saw portraits of the founding fathers and former chairmen of the Africa Federation, further appreciating the legacy that continues to inspire the community.

The visit concluded with a lunch organized for the visitors, where Alhaj Hussein Karim, Chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania, also joined the gathering.

The Africa Federation remains dedicated to fostering collaboration and supporting initiatives that benefit its member communities. This visit represented another milestone in the journey of mutual progress, further deepening the strong and lasting bond between Madagascar Jamaat and AFED.


Alhaj Navazaly Molou invited the Central Health Board Chairman, Alhaj Aliraza Bandali to visit Tananarive so that he can visit the clinic and other medical facilities to get better idea of what is available, and for future Health Screening Programs.


The Chairman, Alhaj Amine Nassor and the Office Bearers of Africa Federation expresses sincere gratitude to the Madagascar delegation for their visit, and look forward to further opportunities of collaboration and similar visits to build stronger unity and brotherhood.
