Alhamdulillah, the construction of Al Mahdi Tower on Plot No. 13, Sokoine Road/Swahili Street in Arusha Town has been successfully completed. Our deepest appreciation to the Office Bearers, Managing Committee, Trustees and members of Arusha Jamaat for their unwavering support and to the Africa Federation Office Bearers and Trustees for their concerted efforts. Our sincere appreciation is also extended to the AFED Housing Board Advisor Alhaj Shabir Najafi, Project Coordinator Br. Mohamed Moledina, AFED Housing Board members and all donors who have supported this project in one way or another. 


This landmark project was launched by the Arusha Jamaat for its members who needed a good and reasonable accommodation near our centre in Arusha, the project was undertaken by the Africa Federation Housing Development Board in collaboration with Arusha Jamaat. 


The completion of the project marks a new chapter in the history of Arusha Jamaat whose vision of having its own building has been accomplished, by the grace of Allah (SWT).

Building Overview: 


The Al Mahdi Tower is a modern 13-storey multipurpose building designed to cater to both commercial and residential needs. The structure includes: 


  • Basement level dedicated to secure parking and amenities like Generators etc.

  • Ground floor, mezzanine, and the first three floors comprising of well-planned commercial office spaces.

  • Floors four to ten, each having two three-bedroom residential apartments for rental purposes, priority to the Arusha Jamaat members.

  • The eleventh floor features a four-bedroom apartment, for rental purpose.

  • The twelfth floor is home to a state-of-the-art Ladies Gym, a generous donation by the Jaffer Family Foundation of New York, USA which will serve the health and well-being of the community’s female members.

  • The thirteenth floor has been fitted with dedicated personal hygiene amenities exclusively for users of the Ladies Gym.


The rental income generated from the commercial spaces and residential apartments will be utilized to support Arusha Jamaat's operational and administrative expenses, including Tabligh, Education, Health and General Welfare assistance for the deserving members of the Jamaat thereby promoting sustainability. The building will also add to the capital assets of the Jamaat, this being a vision of Africa Federation to encourage member Jamaats to re-develop its properties for higher yields as the demand for modern and reasonable housing needs are increasing.


It is pleasing to note that the ground floor has been successfully leased to a reputable bank on a long-term lease agreement with the Jamaat, ensuring a steady and reliable source of income. Furthermore, all residential units have been allocated to the members of Arusha Jamaat, and Insha’Allah, will be ready for occupation by 1st June 2025.


The official inauguration ceremony of the magnificent Al Mahdi Tower is scheduled to take place in Arusha on Sunday, 18th May 2025. Formal invitations for the Opening will be sent out by Arusha Jamaat in due course.


We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant us all the tawfeeqat and that this remarkable achievement may serve as a source of encouragement and benefit for the community members of Arusha Jamaat and amplify as a testament towards the vision of the Africa Federation leadership in creating long-term sustainability and in easing some of the housing burden for our community members in all Jamaats under Africa Federation.

On Friday, 14th March 2025, the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania (BMMT) Headquarters hosted a successful Iftar Get-Together at the Africa Federation (AFED) Tower in Dar es Salaam. The event was attended by members of the BMMT Board and Staff, as well as notable guests from the Africa Federation and beyond.


The gathering was graced by the presence of Alhaj Aunali Khalfan - AFED Vice Chairman, who led the AFED delegation. Other distinguished attendees included Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi - AFED Trustee, Alhaj Muslim Ramazanali Meghji - BMMT Immediate Past Chairman, Mrs. Siddika Karim – Administrator, Bilal Comprehensive School (BCS), and Alhaj Haji Sahib - Founder, WIPAHS. Also present were Sheikh Siblin, Sheikh Msabaha Mapinda - Former Head of Tabligh, BMMT, and members of the Hawzatu Ahlul-Bayt, led by Sheikh Muhammad Yusuph (Mudir), and the Hawzatu Sayyida Maasoumah, led by Sheikhat Haitham Tajiri (Mudira).


The program commenced with a recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Br. Ali Haidary Abdul-Wahid Mohammed, followed by an opening address from the Master of Ceremonies, Sheikh Hussein Zuberi - Tabligh Coordinator. Alhaj Azizhussein Rajani - Chairman, BMMT Coast & South Zone provided the welcome remarks and introduced the distinguished guests, while Br. Hasan Ahmed - Administrative Manager introduced the BMMT Headquarters staff members.

Alhaj Aunali Khalfan addressed the gathering, expressing his delight in seeing BMMT continue the tradition of hosting Iftar get-togethers. He emphasized the importance of such gatherings in fostering dialogue and collaboration to advance the mission. On behalf of AFED, he pledged continued support to BMMT and its branches.


In his closing remarks, Alhaj Abdulwahid Mohamed - BMMT Vice Chairman thanked all those in attendance and urged BMMT staff members to remain dedicated in their service to Imam Mahdi (ATFS). The event concluded with the recitation of the closing Dua and Dua al-Hujjah (ATFS) led by Sheikh Muhammad Yusuph.
