The Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTAB), in collaboration with the Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) and the Kampala Jamaat, is pleased to share the successful completion of a Teacher Skills Program (TSP) conducted in Kampala, Uganda, on 21st and 22nd June 2025. The training was facilitated by Br. Nishathusein Karim and Br. Hameed Sheriff, and brought together 30 passionate madrasah teachers for two days of reflection, learning, and growth.

Purpose of the Program
The Teacher Skills Program is a flagship initiative aimed at equipping madrasah teachers with the skills, confidence, and inspiration to fulfil their vital role as educators and spiritual coaches. Through interactive activities, reflective discussions, and practical tools, the TSP nurtures teachers to not only deliver knowledge but also to positively shape the hearts and minds of students.

The Kampala program emphasized key themes such as:
Extensive soul-searching: Encouraging teachers to reflect deeply on their personal motivations and intentions in serving at the madrasah.
Purpose of madrasah: Reaffirming the sacred mission of Islamic education and its relevance in today’s world.
Planning, assessment, and reflection: Providing strategies for lesson planning, self-assessment, and reflective teaching.
Reaching every child: Sharing practical techniques and demonstration lessons to address diverse learning needs of our children and transmit Islamic values effectively.
Highlights of the Training
The training journey invited teachers to pause and reflect on their calling, strengthening their understanding of how to engage meaningfully with children while fostering an environment of learning rooted in both knowledge and spirituality.
Interactive exercises, peer discussions, and facilitator-led sessions made the training engaging and impactful, allowing participants to connect theory with practice. Teachers left the sessions inspired and better prepared to make their lessons both purposeful and relatable.

Feedback from Participants
The teachers expressed overwhelming appreciation for the training, describing it as enriching, transformative, and inspiring. The facilitators were acknowledged for their heartfelt and professional delivery, and participants highlighted the value of interactive activities that made the sessions both memorable and practical.
Some reflections included:
“In a flash of a second, I recalled all my past experiences as a student and teacher. The journey from teacher to facilitator was truly beautiful. Every moment was valuable.”
“A very enriching experience. I’ve attended many trainings, but this one touched both the mind and heart.”
“The session made me realize each child is unique, and their teaching method should also be unique. This experience will stay with me for life.”
“Thank you for letting me be part of this even though I’m young. I now feel more confident and excited to help teach.”
“It was really helpful. I came full and left fuller.”

Conclusion
The TSP in Kampala was a successful and deeply impactful program, leaving teachers motivated to apply new strategies in their classrooms and deepen their commitment to the madrasah. By nurturing reflection and equipping educators with practical tools, the program strengthened the foundation for impactful teaching and development in the lives of our children through effective skills. The facilitators' guidance was especially appreciated, and many participants expressed eagerness to attend further training such as the Micro Teach sessions.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the facilitators, the Kampala Jamaat, and all who contributed to making this program possible. May Allah (SWT) grant continued tawfiq in supporting our teachers, who serve as the guiding lights for the next generation.
