Opening of ‘Hussainy Medical House’ in Ahmedabad – India

The Central Health Board (CHB) of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa in collaboration with the Hussainy Healthcare Committee (HHC) in Ahmedabad have recently introduced accommodation facility in Sarkhej area for patients who require accommodation. The HHC being headed by Br. Ali Hasnain Dosani have been working very hard for the last several months to establish the Medical House. Previously, patients were accommodated at the Sardariya Boys Hostel which is presently undergoing major renovations to improve its condition. Similarly, the Kalupoor Musafirkhana is far from the city centre, it is located in a crowded and congested market area restricting cabs/cars to reach to Musafirkhana, thus, for patients it becomes very difficult to go in and out of Musafirkhana.

The AFED Chairman, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi and the Hon. Secretary, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan on their visit to Ahmedabad in early June 2014 had the opportunity to visit the Hussainy Medical House (HMH). They were accompanied by Alhaj Mohsin Dosani, Alhaj Nasir Dosani and Alhaj Ali Hasnain Dosani, they were showed around the building. The AFED Chairman during the visit to HMH also met with some families and patients from our Jamaats who were undergoing medical treatment in Ahmedabad.

HMH will be under the administration of Hussainy Healthcare Committee (HHC), they have employed a caretaker and are planning to employ a Manager/Accountant to manage the overall administration of HMH and to provide assistance to our patients.

HMH is a 5 storey leased building, each floor has three self-contained rooms, each room has a split unit air conditioner, furnished with two single beds. Each floor has a kitchen and a common sitting/dining area for relaxing and for visitors who visits patients. There is a flat screen TV with a cable channel in the sitting room and WiFi in each floor.

The room rate per night is Rs.700 (US$12) for one up to two persons; additional bed for a third person will cost Rs.900 (US$15).

There is a lady from our community who supplies food at HMH at a reasonable cost.

HMC policy states that accommodation is only for the patients and their escorts, and the stay is limited to a period of medical treatment up to the time the patient is released by the hospital/physician to travel back to his/her country of domicile.

Those who wish to utilize the above facility in Ahmedabad, are required to obtain a letter from CHB office in Dar es Salaam, and, for upcountry patients who require letter from CHB, they can contact the CHB Administrative Secretary by email or by phone.

We take this opportunity to thank the Dosani family, and especially Br. Ali Hasnain Dosani for the efforts and time he has devoted to form the Hussainy Healthcare Committee and in extending services by working in cohesion with CHB in ensuring that patients from Africa are well received, properly guided and assisted while in Ahmedabad.

The introduction of HMH is a major step forward in providing accommodation at reasonable cost, with facilities such as emergency doctor on call, ambulance service, and airport pick up etc.

We pray to Allah (SWT) to grant these volunteers further inspiration and more strength to continue with the noble work they do for the welfare and wellbeing of the community members– Ameen.
