"And one of His signs is that He created mates for you from yourselves that you may find peace in them and He creates between you love and compassion". (Surah Rum, 30:20)

The 1st AFED Marriage Seminar – 2011 was jointly organized by the Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTAB) and the Africa Federation Youth Network (AYN) in Nairobi, Kenya on 3rd and 4th September 2011. This Seminar was fully sponsored by AFED.

One of the AFED's goals during this term is to create a strong sense of belonging. Also to engage and include all levels of our community members in enriching Islamic Values and our Moral Responsibilities with special focus aimed at our younger generation.

It is for this reason therefore, AFED finds it necessary to enlighten and equip the younger generation with the required knowledge and skills that provides them with legitimate solutions to social problems building a strong community that puts Islam into practice. Similarly also, to create a lifestyle that is mutually enjoyable and enhances the well being of their children and families.

The Seminar was conducted ably by three facilitators from London, UK. they are:

Seyed Muhammad Naqvi
Brother Abbas Merali
Brother Ashiq Damani

An overwhelming response from several Jamaats in Africa with over 100 participants, the Jamaats who participated are: Arusha, Moshi, Mombasa and Nairobi.

The seminar was divided into two categories: the engaged and married couple's category and the single (bachelors/spinsters) group.

A highly interactive and participative Seminar, the modern approach used by the Facilitators positively impacted the participants, who were at ease and discussed openly the topics of marriage and the related issues. Participants had an opportunity to know themselves as individuals such that the information would help them relate to their life partners in a manner befitting the Islamic code of practice for married couples.

We convey our special thanks to the three facilitators from London, namely Sayed Muhammad Naqvi, Br. Abbas Merali and Br. Ashiq Damani.
