Africa Federation (Afed) delegation led by the Chairman, Alhaj Shabir Najafi, and accompanied by the immediate past Chairman and the Trustee of Afed, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, the Vice Chairman, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the World Federation Secretary General, Alhaj Kumail Manji and the Chairman of the Central Bilal Board, Alhaj Mohsin Lalji paid a curtsey call on the Dawoodi Bohra World Spiritual Leader, Syedna Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb. The visit took place at the Dawoodi Bohra Mosque in Upanga, Dar es Salaam on Sunday, 9th October 2016 – 7th Muharram 1438 AH where daily prayers and lectures (below) are being held.

Syedna Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin Saheb, the Dawoodi Bohra Community World Spiritual Leader of about 2.5 million people living in 100 countries worldwide arrived in Dar es Salaam on 26th September 2016 to lead the Ashara-e-Muharram congregation. It is reported that about 30,000 Bohra Community members – men, women and children travelled from various countries globally assembled in Dar es Salaam to observe the 10 days of Ashra-e-Muharram in commemoration of the great martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) that took place in 61 A.H. in the plains of Karbala, Iraq.
Dr. Mufaddal Saifuddin’s late father, Syedna Mohammed Burhanudeen Saheb who passed away in January 2014 in Mumbai, India at the age of 101 years had been to Tanzania several times during his tenure, and also during the Ashra-e-Muharram.
The Afed delegation were warmly welcomed upon arrival at Upanga Bohra Mosque by the host Bohra Jamaat leaders and elders. The delegation later joined some thousands of Bohra Community members who assembled for Maghribain prayers and Azah-e-Sayyedush Shohada Aba Abdillahil Hussain (A.S.) and other Martyrs of Karbala in remembering the supreme sacrifices that they made while fighting against injustice, oppression and to uphold the honor and dignity of Islam and human values.

This is one of the several initiatives undertaken by the Office Bearers of Africa Federation in furthering its Aims and Vision that involves long-term development of good working relationships and cooperation with the Muslim and non-Muslim communities, likewise to broaden communications and interactions with the local communities and authorities in the country we live that impacts in our daily activities.
We also encourage our Member Jamaats to make collective efforts to engage in programs and activities such as Blood Donation Drive, Imam Hussain Day, Miladun Nabii (Maulidi) and other social and religious programs which involves interfaith and intrafaith events providing greater opportunities to build bridges of cooperation and unity amongst various communities locally.
