ECLIPSE OF THE SUN
THURSDAY, 1ST SEPTEMBER 2016

Jamaats in Africa are informed that there will be a Solar Eclipse on Thursday 1st September 2016 (28th Zilkaad 1437).
 
The eclipse will begin at 10.13 a.m. and will reach its maximum at 12.04 p.m.  The eclipse will end at 1.56 p.m. (East African time).

This annular solar eclipse will be visible from Madagascar and locations in Central Africa.  For most viewers in Africa, it will be a partial solar eclipse.

Total solar eclipse will be visible in:

  • Franceville, Gabon
  • Mahajanga, Madagascar
  • Saint Paul, Reunion
  • Saint Pierre, Reunion
  • Toamasina, Madagascar

CIRCULAR NO: AF/FS/16/16                                                                           

 

 The Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to re-appoint Alhaj Munir Hassanali Suleiman Daya as the Chairman of the Editorial Board and Chief Editor of Federation Samachar for the term 2016-2019. Alhaj Shabir Najafi is also pleased to re-appoint Sister Mahjabeen Daya, who has served as Associate Editor of the publication with Alhaj Munir Daya for the past six years.

Br. Munir has served the Africa Federation for 27 years as the Editorial Board Chairman and Chief Editor of Federation Samachar from 1983 to 2004 and for two consecutive terms from 2010 to 2016. 
 
Brief Profile
In April 2016, at the 26th Triennial Conference and the 78th Supreme Council Session of the Federation of KSI Jamaats held in Dar es Salaam, the then Chairman of Africa Federation Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi honoured Br. Munir with the prestigious Abbasi Medal for his exemplary and selfless services to the Africa Federation and to the Community at large.  
 
Br. Munir is the franchise owner of Rentokil Initial Tanzania Ltd., an international company of which he has been the Managing Director since 1995. He is a prolific writer in his spare time embedding significant impact on readers for more than two decades. Similarly, his opinion columns have been published by many newspapers in Tanzania and Kenya, some of which have been recently published in an anthology, “Weekends with Munir Daya”.

CIRCULAR NO: AF/AYN/11/16                                           



The Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to appoint Br. Aliraza M. Sumar to the post of Chairman of the Africa Federation Youth Network (AYN) for the term 2016 - 2019.
 
Brief Profile
 
Aliraza Mohamed Sumar was born in 1991 in Tanga, Tanzania. He completed his primary and secondary education in the coastal city of Tanga. He is currently pursuing his bachelors’ degree in civil and construction engineering at the University of Nairobi in Kenya.
 
A dedicated, passionate and task-oriented person who began volunteering at a young age, his inspiration towards the community services influenced by his father (who has served Tanga Jamaat for several years as a Madressah teacher, Managing Committee member and a trustee.)

CIRCULAR NO: AFED/10/16                                             



Under the provisions of article 16 (a) of the Constitution of the Africa Federation, in my capacity of Chairman of the Africa Federation, I am pleased to appoint Alhaj Hussein A. Karim as the Honorary Secretary of the Africa Federation for the current term; 2016 - 2019.
 

Brief Profile
 
Alhaj Hussein Karim was born on 5th October, 1963 in Zanzibar, Tanzania. He is married with five children.

He did his Primary education in Singida and Secondary education at Mawenzi Secondary School in Moshi. Thereafter he pursued IB at International School Moshi. He also studied Law at the Open University of Tanzania while in Moshi. He operates a successful business venture in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. 

For a number of years, Hussein Bhai served in several public, religious and charitable institutions involved in social services to communities, thereby acquiring wide-ranging of experience in the office administration, personnel management and public relations.

The Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to appoint Alhaj Tehsin Takim as the Chairman of the Africa Federation Education Board for the term 2016 - 2019.
 
Brief Profile
 
Tehsin completed his primary and secondary education in Dar es Salaam, culminating with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.  He pursued his BA (Hon) in Political Science from the University of Toronto, followed by an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning from the London School of Economics, UK.  He has business interests in the Travel and Tourism sector, as well as being a public speaking coach.  He has served on numerous Government Boards including the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority Consumer Council, the National College of Tourism Board of Advisors, and National Museum of Tanzania Advisory Council.
