Refreshers for LDP Alumni

The Africa Federation Capacity Building Group capitulated on its recent trip to Madagascar by conducting a Master class for the LDP Alumni and a Mentor development program on completion of the Leadership Development Program.

The Master class facilitated by Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan and Sr. Shama Dewji, covered Emotional intelligence, Transactional analysis and Drama Triangle, highlighting skills for effective communication.

The session ran on the night of 11th May 2018 from 8:30 p.m. at the Madressah’s Conference room, for a total of 25 participants.

The Africa Federation Capacity Building Group (CBG) Facilitators Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan and Sis. Shama Dewji conducted a Master Class on ‘Lessons Learnt from Karbala’ for the Leadership Development Program Alumni of Dar es Salaam on 18th October 2017 corresponding to 27th Muharram 1439 A.H.

Ten Alumni participated in the program that was held at AFED Office at Zahra Towers from 8.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.  The discussions, group activities and presentations revolved around values that emanated from the Event of Karbala and what lessons we personally derive from each of them.

The 10th Leadership Development Programme conducted by the Africa Federation Capacity Building Group (CBG), concluded with transformational enhancement of energy in the participants in Antananarivo, Madagascar last month.

The workshop was conducted at the KSI Jamaat Antananarivo Imambargha over four days and facilitated by Sr. Mumtaz Ladak, Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan, Sr. Maria Pattinson and Sr. Shama Dewji, supported by the following Developmental Facilitators: Sr. Sofia Bharwani, Br. Inayat Abbas Firdousi and Sr. Tahera Shivji, from the CBG of Africa Federation.

This program aims in creating mentors in the community for the betterment of the community at large.
AFED CBG Facilitators with the support of development facilitators, conducted the workshop based on Egan’s Skilled Helper Model which has been updated and refined over 35 years. The model is positive and systematic and applicable across cultures for a variety of helping situations, emphasizing on change and leading to values outcome.
The goal of Egan’s model is to help clients help problems more effectively and develop under-used or unused resources as opportunities more fully. It also serves to help clients become better and helping themselves and it also helps clients to develop ancient-oriented prevention mentality.
The mentors will practice the skills acquired and will go through a process of evaluation after which they will serve in various jamaats.
