UNION SPORTS CLUB HISTORY (Abstract - from the 1983 Union Sport Supplement)

image_history_unionsportsIt was under the shade of a mango tree at the Chungani ground in 1952 that our first ever organized community club was launched- Ithna-Asheri Sports Club.

In 1956, the Ithna-Asheri Sports Club, along with Phelomaths Club (catering for table tennis and literary work), Twiligth Club (for badminton) and Radio Club (for snooker) all formed to cater for sporting needs of the community, they joined hands and formed the Ithna-Asheri Union which took under its wings the literary, nursery school, volunteering, employment as well as the sports portfolio, Al hajj Bashir Rahim as its first Chairman.
