Live amongst people in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you are alive they crave for your company - Imam Ali (A.S.)

 Mulla Asgharali M M Jaffer
25/11/1937 – 21/03/2000

Each man has his own vocation. A man, who is determined to spend his life to serve, gives his thoughts and work for the Almighty. He has the talent that becomes his call to nurture a sense of true giving within him for the cause of Islam. It is in the true giving that true acceptances are seen. This giving has its own pleasure that comes from the deep recesses of our humanness whose nature is inclined towards the Divine. And when such a heart speaks, accepting is as pleasurable. This is our calling and a path to traverse.  One who embarks on this calling will have much obstruction thrust upon him. But as Emerson says “ He is like a ship in a river; he runs against obstruction on every side but one; on that side all obstruction is taken away, and he sweeps serenely over a deepening channel into an infinite sea.”

Through true giving and receptive acceptances, he introduces better changes for himself and others and the community attains a greater height of development and rigour with which to withstand times of challenge and controversy and appreciates moments of comfort and convenience. We can now say that in him is a mark of an enlightened leader.

Three years have gone by since the passing away of this enlightened leader. A leader who tried to move the community to this higher level in its development. He saw its heightened capacity to serve the cause of Islam, to come to the rescue of afflicted Muslims and to combat three great evils of human society, namely, disease, poverty and illiteracy. This zeal to give and to give truly has translated into an indelible hallmark for the Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Community and that is “ We Exist To Serve.” This is our tryst with destiny.

For us at the Secretariat, he continues to remain as an example to us. His frequent advice to all who worked with him remains true even today, perhaps more so because we must continue to safeguard the position of trust given by the community. This is the assurance the community has to protect our legacy as an Islamic community for generation to come.

Let us recite Sura e Fateha.
