Ten killed at Pakistan mosque

Ten people have been killed and 15 others injured in a shooting spree during prayers at a Shiite mosque in Rawalpindi.

Two gunmen went into the mosque to fire on worshippers while a third waited outside, Senior Police Superintendent Syed Murawat Ali.

The shooting occurred during evening prayers at Shah-e-Najs mosque just outside Islamabad, local authorities added.

Eyewitness Mohammad Ashgar told Reuters: "We heard gunshots and we rushed here. When we entered the mosque, we saw wounded people and dead bodies.

"We asked for help in getting the wounded and dead bodies out of the mosque. We took them to the hospital."

About 30 people were praying at the time. Officials say at least 10 of the casualties are in a serious condition.

Ali said: "So far in Rawalpindi in the last two years this is worst case of sectarian violence.

"The government of Punjab is offering a reward for any information on any of the people involved in the shooting,"
