Salaamun Alaikum

On this auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr I extend to you and your family heartfelt Eid Mubarak.

Faith in Allah SWT is a gift and Mahe Ramadhan is a wonderful opportunity to
be thankful for that gift.  The blessed month began with great prospect and we all vowed to take the maximum advantage of this blessed month.  Now that Ramadan has passed on, we pray to Allah SWT to accept our Duas and Amaals and to forgive all our shortcomings – Ameen.

As we celebrate the day of Eid, our hearts and thoughts are with the families who have lost their beloved ones in Kadhamain and the earthquake in Pakistan and India. From Vancouver to the shores of Australia, our community has responded to these tragic events with its boundless generosity as it has done before on many occasions, including the earthquake in Bam, the Tsunami disaster and the famine in East Africa. This caring concern shown by the members of our community for the suffering of humanity attests to the nobility of our hearts. This is indeed a blessing from Allah SWT for which we are thankful.  I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the whole community, to extend our thanks to the dedicated volunteers and the leadership who have expended their time and effort in ensuring the work for those in need is effectively done.  May Allah SWT bless them and their families for the work they have undertaken for His pleasure. At the World Federation, opportunities to serve continue to increase exponentially and we invite everyone to participate at all levels of the organisation.

We, as a community, have lost a sincere and a god-fearing leader from our midst. The passing away of Al-hajj Habib Mulji has left us with a vacuum but also his words of wisdom: “Is Allah pleased with my action? Will my community benefit from this?” This used to be his yardstick to judge the viability of any project in the service of the Community and should continue to be our yardstick as we chart the course of service in our Community. Each era brings new challenges, and in each term we devise appropriate strategies and actions to address these evolving challenges. Sitting at the seat of the secretariat, with its unique vantage point, the team has always endeavored to adopt a global overview that at times demands hard and uncomfortable decisions, which may not always be popular with all, nor always understood in their correct context. We have not hesitated to make those decisions, once we have been convinced that therein lies the pleasure of Allah and the best interests of the Community.

On this blessed day of Eid, on behalf of the team at the secretariat, I ask for your support and understanding, and more importantly your prayers for our tawfeeqat.

May Allah SWT shower His blessings on all of us as I end with the dua we recited every single day of the holy month:

Allahumma asleh kulla fasidim-min umooril muslimeen

O Allah! Correct every wrong in the affairs of the Muslims

Wassalamu Alaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu.
