Update report - Bilal Loan Education Scholarship Scheme
(B L E S S) - Launched in March 2004.

B L E S S was launched in March 2004 with a view to avail a facility to fund the Shias from the Bilal network to further education.

B L E S S sees potential students get an opportunity to be able to access further education. It has taken off and we have quite a number of students who have been able to take advantage of this scheme.

With the first year since the inception of this Scheme just turned around BLESS appears to becoming a scheme that is set to grow steadily. The benevolence of the community in is giving BLESS the wings to achieve the goal of facilitating for the indigenous community enlightened with the faith of Ahlul Bayt the opportunity to Higher EDUCATION.

In its tt is intended hat this scheme will bring about the change in the culture whereby we can have educated and self sustaining shias from across the board. This will go long way in achieving the core target of BILAL MUSLIM networks in forming a strong and vibrant indigenous SHIA COMMUNITIES.

A total of 40 Applications have been received
with the details of the outcome herewith below

The scheme provides for both girls and boys who have the potential to be admitted for Higher Education.

These students are going through various courses from Diploma level to Degree courses as well.

As at the end of May 2006 the students had undertaken various challenging careers as shown.

This translates into the disbursements of US$ 40,000, having being committed as broken down below.

Having run the first year of applications it is estimated that the commitment of US$ 40,000 has been made, with the bulk of the amount already disbursed and the rest committed for disbursement through the next two / three years. We are looking at BLESS taking on 20 Students every year.

This scheme has to continue and come every new academic year we have these 20 students going into 2^nd year and 20 more for the fresh year. Therefore in 2007 we will have 60 students and then in 2008, 80 students before the cycle turns.

We appeal for the benevolence of our Community members to subscribe to this scheme on a yearly basis.

It is with the view of making the official 46 Years in Tableegh Activities through the Traverse of Africa move to the next plan envisioning the creation of a self sustaining, proud and professional indigenous community.

This will demand that we establish a fund to sustain Three years intake of 60 Students.

We shall require to have a growth in Students taking advantage of this scheme as shown.
