	MUHARRAM 1427 REPORT Part I : Majlis in Kiswahili

Bilal Hall, Mombasa

Majlis in Kiswahili have been organised in Mombasa since 1978/1399 A.H.

This year the annual programme of majalis were held from 31st January - 9th February 2006. The programme commenced after maghrib salat with recitation of Holy Qur'an and Utenzi (Marthiya). The attendance was gratifying with numbers reaching more than 300 people including ladies. The majority of the audience were Non-Shia brethren.

The majalis were recited by Ustadh Muhammad Dumila, Ustadh Omar Mwantunza, Ustadh Ali Bahero and Sheikh Abdilahi Nassir.

On Ashura Night the majlis attendants participated in the Julus (Ashura procession) organised by the Ithna Asheri Young Men's Union. All the majalis have been recorded for circulation. This will spread the message to the wider public.

• Rural Centres

Similar programmes were held at 14 mosques in our rural centres where majalis were recited by madrasah muallim.
On Ashura day Julus procession was organized and Niyaz was served after the procession.

These were humble contributions towards Aza of Imam Husayn a.s. Our prayers are for acceptance of these deeds and abundant reward for all muminin who have contributed towards the success of these programmes.
