23^rd TRIENNIAL CONFERENCE - ARUSHA

6^th to 8^th APRIL 2007

RESOLUTION

The Secretariat wishes to seek for an Extension for the below Resolution adopted at the 23^rd Triennial Conference held in April 2004 in Nairobi.

Appointment of the CRC Committee

This Conference hereby authorizes the Secretariat of Africa Federation to nominate a Constitution Review Committee of 6 people to review the Africa Federation Constitution and propose necessary amendments to the clauses thereof which they deem necessary to amend and present to the Secretariat by 31^st December 2004.

 

The Secretariat shall submit these amendments to the constituent Jamaats of Africa Federation latest by 15^th January 2005 for their views with a deadline of 15^th February 2005.  Thereafter the Secretariat shall issue appropriate notice to convene a constitutional Conference before the 63^rd Session of the Supreme Council of April 2005.

The name of Alhaj Amir Somji was proposed to chair the Constitution Review Committee which was adopted unanimously.  Amirbhai appointed the following as members of his Committee

Alhaj Dr. Asgher Moledina              -        Maputo
Alhaj Mohamed Nathoo                  -        Dar-es-Salaam
Alhaj Abdulrazak Khalfan                -        Nairobi
Alhaj Shabbir Najafi                     -        Kampala
Alhaj Ikbal Akbaraly Soundardjee     -        Regional Council

The Resolutions were seconded by Nairobi, Mombasa and Moshi Jamaats

Thereafter an extension was sought and received for the Constitutional Review Committee to submit their amendments to the Secretariat by 31^st December 2005.

However this could not be concluded.

It is therefore sought that this resolution be renewed to read as follows

The Secretariat shall submit these amendments to the constituent Jamaats of Africa Federation latest by 15^th January 2008 for their views with a deadline of 15^th February 2008.  Thereafter the Secretariat shall issue appropriate notice to convene a constitutional Conference before the 66^th Session of the Supreme Council of April 2008.
