RESOLUTION |
|
|
The following Resolution for amendment to the Africa Federation Constitution has been received from the Shia Asna-Asheri Jamaat, Nairobi, which will be placed for discussion and consideration at the 23rd Triennial Conference to held in Arusha from 6th April 2007.
PREAMBLE In view of the fact that the work load at the Secretariat is increasing at a tremendous pace and the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaats of Africa is proactively involved in keeping abreast with all the constituent Jamaats as well as being fully involved in various activities like increasing the income from the property portfolio, Tableegh, education, health, economic upliftment, housing schemes amongst many other, there is a dire need for a full time Secretary General to manage the affairs at the secretariat in order to be able to serve effectively and efficiently with full accountability.
In this regards, we the Nairobi Jamaat hereby propose the following amendment to the constitution.
AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION Clause 16(a) Reads as follows
The Honorary Secretary shall be appointed by the Chairman and shall hold the office at the Chairman's pleasure provided that his term of office shall, subject to any reappointment, automatically come to an end at the end of the term of office of the Chairman.
To amend as below
The Secretary General shall be appointed by the Chairman and may be entitled to remuneration. He shall hold office at the Chairman's pleasure provided that his term of office shall, subject to any reappointment, automatically come to an end at the end of the term of office of the Chairman.
In addition to this the following clauses shall also be amended to read from Honorary Secretary to The Secretary General.
Clause 7; Clause 13 (x 4); Clause 21; Clause 21 (a) iii; Clause 28 (a) (x 2); Clause 29 (x 2); Clause 32 (b) and Clause 36 (a) (x 2)
