Text Box: CARDIAC CAMPS BY CONSULTANTS FROM MMM - CHENNAI
 

 


On the invitation of CHB, Dr. S. Rajan, Senior Consultant & Head of Dept. of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and Dr. K. Latchumanadhas, Senior Consultant Cardiologist from the Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases – A unit of the Madras Medical Mission, Chennai came to Dar Es Salaam on 1st April 2007. The Consultants conducted “Cardiac Camp” in Dar Es Salaam from 2nd to 4th April 2007 where 57 patients from Dar Es Salaam were screened and advised. 

On 5th April, the two Consultants traveled to Arusha organized by CHB. They delivered lectures to the members of our community at our Imambarghah, being the occasion of Milad-un-Nabii (SAWW) at night; the attendance was very good, followed by a question and answer session and on Friday, 6th April, “Cardiac Camp” was organized by the Arusha Medical Board at our Arusha Dispensary and 30 patients were screened and advised, some patients traveled all the way from Moshi to participate.  

The two Consultants also attended the CHB session at the 23rd Triennial Conference of the Federation of K.S.I. Jamaats of Africa at Ngurudoto Mountain Lodge in Arusha. The lodge is located within a lush coffee plantation with magnificent views of the snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro and the looming Mt. Meru, right infront of the lodge giving an absolutely awesome sight, especially for the visitors.

At the CHB Session during the Conference, the Chairman, Alhajj Aunali Khalfan expressed his gratitude to Madras Medical Mission (MMM) and especially to the two Consultants for the care and attention given to patients referred by CHB for treatment to MMM and also for the concessionary rate of treatment. He also announced the offer by MMM to train of our doctors/medical professionals at the Institute of Cardio-Vascular Diseases of up to 6 months including accommodation at their Guest House free of charge. Doctors who are working in hospitals, dispensaries or health centres under the constituent Jamaats are welcomed to take up this offer. CHB and MMM have signed an MOU which provides among other facilities the training for our doctors.
 

Below are photographs taken at the dinner hosted in honour of the visiting doctors at the Terrace of Heritage Hotel in Dar Es Salaam, among the dignitaries were the President of Dar Es Salaam Jamaat, Alhaj Anver Dharamsee, Dsm Jamaat Office Bearers, CHB & CMB Members, Doctors and Staff from Ebrahim Haji Health Centre. Among the invitees were the Dar Es Salaam based Pharmaceutical Suppliers who on many occasions assist CHB & CMB in its activities, like Health Screening Programs.

After the Arusha Conference, the Arusha Jamaat organized a special trip to the world famous Ngorongoro Crater and Wildlife Safari for the two consultants.  

From 9th up to 12th April the two consultants were in Mombasa, whereby they provided the same services to the members of our community and the general public at Mombasa Hospital. We would like to thank Mr. Abbas Nasser of Mombasa Hospital for obtaining the necessary permissions and organizing the camp in Mombasa. They are a number of heart patients in our community in Mombasa who were looking forward to this camp.
