MESSAGE FROM ALHAJ MOHAMEDALI MEGHJI PRESIDENT OF AFRICA FEDERATION DURING THE OPENING CEREMONIES OF TRIPLE PROJECTS IN DAR-ES-SALAAM

On the eve of the opening of the  triple projects the Imamwada, the Masjid and the Housing Flats, the basic requirement of any Jamaat, 1 take pleasure in conveying on my own behalf and on behalf of the Federation my sincere greetings and felicitations to the members of the Dar es Salaam Jamaat for this most important achievement during the year, The completion of these projects is a turning point and a unique occasion in the history of   the  community   which   has  materialised   after   a substantial sacrifice both in finance and planning and endeavour, I express the Federation's deep appreciations to all the donors and to all those who have in one form or the other contributed towards the successful conclusion of these projects.

The spirit of co-operation amongst the members of the Dar es Salaam Jamaat has indeed set a wonderful example for other Jamaats in Africa. I heartily congratulate the Jamaat.  This is an evidence of faith in the workers of the Jamaat

With the influx of our brothers from the other towns of Tanzania to the capital, the extension to the Mosque and the Imamwada was a necessity and I am glad the Jamaat made this extension possible to meet and cope with the ever increasing population of our Community.

The completion of the tenant purchase housing scheme in Dar es Salaam is indeed another milestone and of great historical importance to the Federation. Dar es Salaam is the second Jamaat after Kampala to have set an example on the directives of the Federation. The completion of this scheme would mean that a number of our brothers will own their own houses in course of time. With the scarcity of housing in Dar es Salaam, this project will greatly alleviate the difficulties of a number of our families. The benefits that the community will derive from this development programme are self evident.

The completion of the triple project demonstrates amply loyalty of our brothers to the country of our adoption in keeping with the directive of the sermons of Ah-lul-Bait.

I am pleased to record my appreciation for the selfless services rendered by the officials of the Jamaat for making this dream a reality.  I can appreciate the difficulties encountered in the raising of funds and the time and energy so selfless devoted for the completion of projects.

At this juncture I wish also to express your Federation's thanks to the Dar es Salaam Jamaat who had since 1965 acted as a host to our infant organisation the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania. The part played by the Officials of the Jamaat in the initial stage of the Mission is deeply appreciated. The completion of the Mission's Mosque in Temeke, in the outskirts of the city, will be the first centre of our concrete tablighi activities amongst the non-Ithna-Asheries. The opening of this mosque is in our opinion an important centre of learning for our new converts. With the appointment of Al-Haj Maulana Syed Saeed Akhtai Rizvi as a full time Chief Missionary with an able Executive Committee under the President ship of Al-Haj Ahmed Hussein Sheriff, I am confident the Mission will play an important part in the spread and teaching of our religion and in conveying the message of Ah-lul-Bait. I wish here to record my appreciation for the Chief Missionary's outstanding work and look forward to his future programmes of the Mission with confidence.

Again, I wish to thank the officials of the Jamaat, the present and the past ones, the donors and all brothers who have contributed and played their part in one way or the other for the excellent planning of these projects.

It is our earnest prayers to Almighty Allah that He may richly reward them all in this world and the world hereafter for their selfless services and devotion to the cause of the Community.  I send my warm and sincere salutations to young and old who have assisted in the projects.  May Allah bless them all.

May the example set by Dar-es-Salaam be emulated elsewhere!  Amen.
