While visiting Madagascar the Federation President Haji Muhamadalibhai Meghji honored Haji Wallibhai Ramji with an "Abbasi medal" for his long services to the Community. During the citation ceremony on 28th October 1965, the President appreciated the selfless services Haji Saheb offered to the Community, after which the President briefed the history of Haji Wallibhai to the public.
After accepting the Medal Murabbi Wallibhai thanked Haji Muhamadalibhai and informed that; "On this earth i have only spent 8% for which if you honor me with this medal you have added a heavy burden on me."
Below is the brief history of Murabbi Wallibhai through which one can realize the services rendered by him to the community.
Haji Wallibhai was born in Latth Gondal, in 1888. He traveled from Pormandar via Sagar to Majunga in 1904. For two years he worked for "Manjibhai Thawer and sons" in Morondava. Religious activities ran in Haji Saheb's blood. Due to his staunch faith he established brotherhood within the Community and served selflessly for humanity.
In 1934 Wallibhai built an Imambargha in Atungu and presented it as "Waqf" to the Jamat. Up to date this Imambargha facility are used for the good purpose.
Whilst collecting Africa Federation foundation fund from each and every member in 1959, the Federation President Marhum Ebrahimbhai was amazed to see the aged Haji Wallibhai serving the community despite his old age of 73 as well as running his own business vigorously.
In 1955 due to scarcity of water the requirement of a water well arose in Atungu. Haji Wallibhai was ever ready to sponsor financially and physically. While the work was going on, due to soft soil breakage a local Malagasy laborer was trapped underground accidentally, Haji Wallibhai with all his effort managed to save and rush him to the hospital for treatment, but the laborer was in pain and after seeking doctor's advice, he was to be transferred to the main hospital of Morombe, on the way the laborer passed away, and due to this a case was filed on Haji Saheb but he was acquitted after 6 months. This case file was in the main court of Tananrive, friends and well wishers of Haji Saheb were very much worried for the calamities which would befall him, yet Haji Saheb did not loose hope in fact he was certain that through the intercede of the infallible Imams in whose name he was digging the water well, shall definitely save him as his intention was to serve humanity in the name of the Lord .By the grace of Almighty in the final hearing at Tananarive Haji Saheb was proved "NOT GUILTY" and was relieved.
