BR MAHMUD RATTANSEY - ELECTED IN TANZANIA’S LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL
During the recent Tanzania’s legislative council election, the well known advocate of DSM Br. Mahmud Nasser Rattansey was elected as a representative of Tabora, for which we congratulate him on behalf of the community.
Mr Mahmud was born in DSM on 31st October 1916, after completing his basic education he left for London where he attained his degree of law and returned to DSM in 1949. From 1952 to 1954, he served as the Secretary of Indian Association; later in 1954 he became the President of Asian Association.
Br Mahmud had been a strong supporter of Mw Julius K Nyerere while struggling for Tanganyika’s Independence. In 1958 he was elected as one of the volunteers of TANU.
Mr Rattansey is a Trustee as well as the Secretary of Tanganyika’s Education Trust Fund.
Br Mahmud has served as the President of Dar-es-Salaam Jamaat and is currently serving as a Trustee.
