The Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat Dar es Salaam held a successful Mini Census of the community population on 25th November 2012 (Ashura Day).

The exercise was a simple headcount broken into four age bands and was conducted simultaneously in the gents and ladies sections.

The Jamaat made few announcements during the nights of Muharram, whereby maximum attendance was available and appealed to the members to take part in the exercise. The process was simple and hassle-free as a result it enticed members to participate wholeheartedly.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Salaamun Alaykum.

The Mombasa Jamaat is proud to launch an interactive website www.msamarhumeen.com this Friday 12th of October, 2012 corresponding to 25th  Mahe Zilqaad, 1433 which coincides with the auspicious day of  Dahwul Ardh  also known as Earth Day.  The website is in honour of the many great personalities who made Mombasa their home over the past century, and who made Mombasa theculturally rich city it is today.

Great importance is given to visiting the graves of those no longer with us; Imam Jaffer-as-Sadiq (a.s.) has said: "Marhumeen recognize you (when you visit them) and feel lonely when you leave them". It is because of this, our Jamaat has maintained its century old tradition of visiting the graveyard every Thursday and on other auspicious days to give the deceased our gift of Dua.

The website, with its clean and intuitive site-design allows users worldwide to search for the burial locations of marhumeen buried in Mombasa, as well as an easy to navigate menu with a wealth of information for members of the community. Finding the graves of any of the Marhumeen buried in Mombasa will now be much easier for those living inMombasa as well as visitors to our beautiful city. The website, which has been extremely well received, offers its users multiple search functionality - including searching by location, grave number as well as first and last names.

As the site contains some missing information, we encourage our global community to help us fill in the missing pieces in order to make this site comprehensive and accurate. Any omissions or errors found on the page may be reported by sending an email to info@msamarhumeen.com.  Once feedback and comments have been received and corrected on the site, we intend to publish a hardcopy version of the directory for the benefit of our community.

The Mombasa Jamaat is extremely grateful to all those who have worked tirelessly in preparing this wonderful and useful website – may the Almighty amply reward them and their families in this world and the next.

Please recite Sura-e-Fateha for all of our Marhumeen.

With Salaams & Duas,

Sibtain H. Sadak
Vice Chairman
K.S.I. Jamaat – Mombasa

Bismillahi Rahmanir Rahim

Ulame Kiraam, My Elders and Brothers in Islam

Salaamun Alaikum,

On this auspicious occasion, please accept hearty greetings of EID MUBARAK on behalf of myself, the Managing Committee & Trust Board of the Jamaat.

On this Blessed day, let us remember & pray for people in distress all over the world especially Palestine, Syria, Iraq & Pakistan. May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala remove their distress, establish peace & tranquillity in this world- ilaahi ameen

Unfortunately, the Chairman is unable to be here with us today, but sends his personal greetings to each one of you and your families.

I do not wish to take up much of your time as we all need to be with our loved ones on this auspicious occasion.

However, I would just like to list out the current salient tasks being undertaken & those achieved by your managing committee

Medical Insurance – This scheme was launched to the Community, both inpatient & outpatient sometimes in early September this year. However, the response has not been very encouraging & Members are requested to take the scheme seriously, especially those have no medical cover. Brothers, we are all aware what it entails for a single hospitalization & therefore need to have adequate cover for any eventualities. For any further information or clarification, please feel free to contact our Honorary Secretary, Brother Mohamedhussein Khaku

Media and IT – Our Mombasa Jamaat  website is fully operational & in addition to this, an interactive Mombasa Jamaat Marhumeen website was launched on 12th October, 2012. Members are requested to take advantage of both these websites.

Resident A'alim – It has been almost two years that we have had no Resident A'alim & I am pleased to inform you that the Jamaat has engaged the services of Syed Mir Sarkarali Abidi from Banglore, for a period of two years.

Members Directory – The Jamaat in conjunction with Ithna Asheri Young Men's Union Volunteers Section is embarking on compilation of data for Members Directory 2013. Volunteers will be stationed within the compound after the Idd Namaz program & Idd Lunch  to collect the data. Members are  requested to cooperate & provide the necessary information. The Jamaat will be also undertake a Census exercise in due course, details of which will be be communicated to you well  in advance.

Ashre Muharram – We have confirmed Sheikh Mohamed Rashid from Birmingham to recite the night majalises & Mohtarama Mulyani Anjum Mukadam from Mumbai  for the Ladies evening majalises.

My Dear Brothers, the above tasks are not conclusive and your Managing Committee shall continue at regular intervals update you on any progress being made on Jamaat activities. Any member having any proposals, suggestions or constructive criticisms in regards to the general running of the Jamaat, is at liberty to communicate the same in writing to the Honorary Secretary.

Lastly, on this auspicious day of Idd, please let us remember all Marhumins who were with us previously & have left this mortal world for the next abode.

Sura e fateha.

Salamun Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

On this momentous occasion of the Ground Breaking Ceremony of 'Jaffery Complex', which coincides with the auspicious day of the Birth anniversary of our 8th Imam Ali Musa Ridha (a.s.), I have immense pleasure in extending hearty felicitations and a warm welcome to you all.

Today I stand before you bowing my head in gratitude to Almighty Allah (s.w.t.) for according me an opportunity to move towards the path of progress. It was on Sunday, 11th of September, 2011, that I agreed to become the Chairman of Mombasa Jamaat to fulfill my long cherished dream of providing affordable housing to members of Mombasa Jamaat who had been looking forward for this to happen so that they have the comfort of having a roof of their own. Alhamdulillah we are blessed with the opportunity to take the first step in the realization of our long standing dream. May Allah (s.w.t.) guide us towards the successful completion of the project- Ilahi Ameen.

Mombasa Jamaat has therefore the pleasure in floating the Jaffery Complex Project which would consist of:

Masjid or Musalla (as applicable per guidance from the Marja) Imambara together with Madressah & Multipupose hall Aalim Quarter and Ghusalkhana Housing scheme New premises for the Club, and Commercial building to generate income to make the Jamaat self- sufficient.

In short, within one complex, we shall have all the necessary facilities to cater for the religious- educational- shelter- socio welfare and physical fitness requirements of our community.

We have formed a Development Committee to undertake this task which is under the able leadership of Alhaj Mohamed Hussein Jaffer who will provide details about this project. He has been my ardent supporter in floating this project and has worked tirelessly in preparing the plans. With great enthusiasm he has accepted the challenge of completing this project purely for the sake of seeking the pleasure of Almighty God.

Before I request him to come forward and make a presentation, I must say that I am extremely touched and humbled with the following:

Your esteemed presence on this momentous occasion- especially the presence of those who have travelled all the way from various parts of the world to show their support and solidarity- may Allah keep this sort of spirit of cooperation alive in this community. The unflinching moral and financial support of individuals and organizations from all over the globe who have boosted our morale with their generous contributions in the form of donations, bridge loans and participation in this project- special acknowledgement of generous contributions by Amersi Foundation, Bande Khuda, Sister Zareen Naushad Merali in memory of her late mother Sugrabai and Br. Mohamed Hussein Jaffer would be appropriate on this occasion- may Almighty Allah amply reward them and their families in this world and the hereafter Sound advice and guidance from the elders of our community who are a blessing for us- may Allah grant them long lives with good health. The unanimous support of the Trustees, Managing Committee and young and old members of the Mombasa Jamaat both in the gents and ladies sections- may Allah keep their spirits alive and may the Jamaat remain vibrant at all times.- ILAHI AMEEN

Side by side with this project, we intend to develop the Lamuwala Trust Building adjacent to the Haidery Masjid in the old town.

The World Federation and the Africa Federation have promised to support and we look forward to receiving their pledge to commence this project.

Furthermore, I wish to assure the community that the Trustees are fully aware of their duties and responsibilities and would not attempt to do anything which contravenes the Shariat- they are very much alive to the fact that at the end of the day they are answerable to God.

Once again I thank you all for gracing this occasion and honoring us with your esteemed presence.

And again, I bow my head to Almighty God in sincere thanks to Him for His Grace and Bounties and for giving me an opportunity to serve the community- may He accept our humble offerings- Ilahi Ameen

Now I will call upon Br. Mohamed Jaffer to give us more details of this Project.

Wassalamun Alaykum wa Rahmatullah.

Please bear with us while the Africa Federation Website undergoes some essential maintenance works.
