The Chairman of Africa Federation, Alhaj Shabir Najafi is pleased to appoint Alhaj Muslim Ramzanali Meghji as Chairman of the Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania for the term 2016 - 2019.
Muslim bhai was born in Kigoma, where he completed his primary education and moved to Mwanza for his Secondary Education.  He pursued his “A” Levels and further studies in U.K.
Muslim bhai resides in Dar es Salaam, he is married with four children.

The Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaats of Africa (Afed) handed over 100 Desks and Chairs to Kwani Primary School at Mwera in Zanzibar on Monday, 10th October 2016, the handover took place during a brief function organized on behalf of Afed by Alhaj Mohamedraza Dharamsee (popularly known by the name of Mohamedraza Pope).
The Chairman of Afed, Alhaj Shabir Najafi, accompanied by the immediate past Chairman and Trustee of Afed, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, the Vice Chairman, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan and the Hon. Treasurer, Alhaj Mohamed Hemani travelled to Zanzibar for the function.
The Minister for Education of Zanzibar Government, Hon. Madam Riziki Pemba Juma, the Chief Guest at the function, Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Manga Mjengo Mjawiri, the Regional Commissioner of the South Region of Zanzibar, Dr. Idrisa Muslim Hijah and several other dignitaries from various departments of Zanzibar Government, Principal of the School, Teachers, Students, Guests and Zanzibar Jamaat officials were present during the two hours function.

On 19th July 2016, Bilal Comprehensive School at Temeke hosted the World Federation Development Officer Sister Atiya Sumar who paid an official visit to the School; she met the head of the School, Mrs. Siddika Karim, Admin Staff, Teachers and Students. She also held a meeting with the School administration on various issues of common interest, including discussion on the much needed support of Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) for our students at Temeke.

Brief Background of ZCSS:
The Scheme was established over 30 years ago with the initiatives of the late leader of the World Federation and a Visionary, Marhum Mullah Asgharali M M Jaffer to assist the less privileged students in India, Pakistan and Africa. The Vision of ZCSS is to create a generation of skilled individuals who will strive together to uplift their families and communities out of poverty, thus empowering them to become self-sufficient.

The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) in collaboration with Africa Federation Tabligh Board (AFTab) and the Management of Husayni Madrasah Boys Section (HMBS), held a two day Teacher’s Skills Programme for the first time for the Madrasah Teachers of HMBS on 9th and 10th of July 2016 and also conducted a one day Micro Teach on 17th of July 2016 in Dar es Salaam.  28 Teachers attended this program.

The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) of the World Federation in collaboration with Africa Federation Tabligh Board - AFTab continues to organize Teacher Development Programmes for the Madaris in Africa.

Neuropsychology of Learning Programme was conducted for the first cohort of Haydari Madrasah Teachers in Nairobi from 2nd to 3rd April and the same training was conducted for the fourth cohort of Husayni Madrasah Teachers in Dar es Salaam from 24th to 26th April 2016.
These were facilitated by Sis. Shama Dewji, Br. Shabbirhussein Khalfan and Sis. Shaida Abdulrasul.

Al Buquire Cup was donated by a gentleman from Goan Community in Zanzibar.

Alhaj Mohammed Jaffer Rashid Nathani, became popular by his nickname - Maalim Mia when he scored a century in one of the Cricket matches in Zanzibar. Mia in Kiswahili meaning Hundred.  Maalim Mia was a good cricketer and also a dedicated teacher at School Faize (Madressah) of Zanzibar. A number of students from School Faize still remember Maalim for his deep knowledge in religious studies, i.e. Aqaid, Fiqh, Akhlaq and the Holy Qur’an and, he also had good understanding of languages including Urdu, Farsi and Arabic.
History Record:
In 1926 British Navy H.M.S. Pegasus anchored at Zanzibar Port. Cricket Match was played between H.M.S. Pegasus Navy personnel and Zanzibar Government National team – The Zanzibar Eleven.  Three players who played in the team were from our Community, Sherali Meghji, A. G. Versi and Y. G. Versi. This was recorded in official Government Gazette of Zanzibar.
None of the above people in the photographs are alive, they have transcended from this temporary world to a permanent abode. Let us remember them with Sura-e-Fateha for the maghferat of their souls.

The Africa Federation Uhuru Mini Sports Festival which will consist of Football and Volleyball games will be held in Morogoro, Tanzania from 9th to 12th December 2016.
Jamaats are requested to inform their Sports bodies about this Festival so that they can start preparations for their participations in good time.
The Africa Federation Secretariat and the AFED Sports Council wishes to record their sincere gratitude to KSI Jamaat of Morogoro for hosting the Uhuru Sports Festival in Morogoro.
Further details on the Festival etc. will be circulated in due course.

Bilal Muslim Organization Uganda this year as one of its activities celebrated the festival of Eid ul Adha with its community.

After the Eid prayer, some goats, sheep and a cow were slaughtered and the meat was distributed Muslim brothers and sisters who were more than 250 in number gathered for Eid ceremony.

Three centres; Nansana, Alhudah Kibundaire in Jinja District  and Hauza Khatamul Ambiyae Jinja received meat  for them to enjoy and celebrate the Eid joyfully.

Bilal Uganda also organized the Celebration of Eid ul Ghadeer on 20th September, 2016 18th Dhulhajj 1437 AH at its headquarter. On this occasion both Ladies and Gents attended in a big number and were informed about the greatness of this day in the religion of Islam.


The Madrasah Centre of Excellence (MCE) of the World Federation in collaboration with Africa Federation Tabligh Board - AFTab continues to organize Teacher Development Programmes for the Madaris in Africa. Following is a brief report.
The objective of the Teaching Skills Programme, which includes the Micro teach Sessions, is to increase the skills of the teachers, and to shift their attitudes and behaviours so that they may be better able to support the learning of the students.
The long-term plan and objective is to provide every teacher who has been trained with the Teaching Skills, five sessions of Micro-teaching experience.
Every teacher who undergoes the Teacher Skills Program with the first session of Micro Teaching is awarded with a certificate of completion. Thereafter, upon attending and fully participating in 5 sessions of Micro Teaching Practice, another certificate will be presented to the Teachers.
Teaching Skills Programme was conducted for the third cohort of Teachers from Husayni Madrasah Girls Section from 17th to 19th April 2016, while the same training programme was conducted for the Teachers of Yaadgare Murtazawi Madressa in Arusha from 23rd to 24th April.
A total of 38 Teachers were newly trained in the TSP in Arusha and Dar es Salaam whilst 62 Teachers continued with their journeys on the Micro Teaching Practice.
The Teacher Development Programme – Teaching Skills
The Teaching Skills Programmes (TSP) and Micro Teach Session 1 for Cohort 3 were facilitated by Sayyid Aliraza Naqvi from UK, sponsored jointly by the World Federation and Africa Federation, and the rest of the Micro Teach Sessions were facilitated by Sis. Shaida Abdulrasul, who is the current Principal of the Husayni Madrasah Dar es Salaam and has recently, joined in the team of MCE Facilitators.

Modules in the Teaching Skills Programme included:

  • Role and Responsibility of a Madrasah Teacher
  • Lesson Planning and Planning Skills
  • Learning and Reflective Practice



Bilal Comprehensive School (BSC) a section of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania marked the Muharram commemoration with majalises for different age groups in the first ashra (12 days) of Muharram 1438 A.H. The commemoration concluded with the annual Juloos (peaceful procession) on Sunday, 16th October 2016. There was a record turnout this time.
