The 15th Africa Federation Sports Festival dubbed "AFED Uhuru Mini Sports Festival" successfully concluded in Morogoro, Tanzania during the long weekend of 9th to 12th December 2016 (Tanzania and Kenya Independence Days holidays, respectively).
120 players from 15 participating teams from Dar-es-Salaam, Mombasa, Morogoro, Mwanza, Songea and Tanga converged in Morogoro for the Sports Festival which consisted of Football and Volleyball, the two most popular sports in our community.
A short Opening Ceremony was held on Friday 9th December 2016 night prior to the commencement of games which were played till Sunday night. The AFED Hon Assistant Secretary, Br. Alihassan Kassam represented AFED at the Opening function.

The Chairman of Africa Federation Alhaj Shabir Najafi on a visit to Dar-es-Salaam from Tuesday 20th November to Friday 23rd November 2016 took the opportunity to meet with the Dar-es-Salaam based Nominated and Elected Councillors and the Africa Federation Boards Chairmen.
The Councillors meeting was held on Thursday 24th November 2016 at 9.00 p.m. at the Tabligh Auditorium and was attended by the AFED Office Bearers, Trustees, Dsm Jamaat President Alhaj Azim Dewji, AFED nominated and elected Councillors.
AFED Chairman Shabir Najafi spoke on the roles of the Councilors who are representatives of their respective Jamaats to the Africa Federation, he clarified that though they are elected by their Jamaats they form part of the Africa Federation Supreme Council and have duties to perform as per Clause 22a of the AFED Constitution.

Under the provisions of the Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamaats of Africa Constitution, Clause 21 (d), the Chairman, Alhaj Shabir Najafi has the pleasure to appoint Alhaj Navazaly Rossanaly Molou of Madagascar as a Nominated Councillor of Africa Federation for the term 2016-2019.
Alhaj Navazaly is the immediate past Chairman of Conseil Regional Des Khojas Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamates De L’Ocean Indien (CROI) and the Vice Chairman of the Africa Federation from CROI. On 9th December, 2016, he handed over the Chairmanship to Sheikh Haniphe Akbaraly who was elected CROI Chairman for the term 2016 – 2019.
Navazaly bhai has been designated a position of International Relations. In the present environment, it is of great importance for an Institution like ours to have talented, experienced and dedicated person in such a position to enhance relationships etc.

The Secretariat is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheikh Haniphe Akbaraly as the Vice Chairman of the Africa Federation from Conseil Regional Des Khojas Shia Ithna-Asheri Jamates De L’ocean Indien (CROI) for the term 2016 – 2019.
This is as per Clause 15 (b) of the Constitution of the Africa Federation which states:
The Vice Chairman from a Territorial Council shall be its Chairman whose term shall be concurrent with that of the term of the Chairman of the individual Territorial Council and shall be declared at the session of the Conference, and he shall also be one of the office bearers of the Federation.

Akber Gulamhussein (Fondly known as Aku)
Once in Zanzibar in 1952 Ithnasheri Gymkhana ‘A’ lost to Arabs in a cricket game in which a young lad was left out from team ‘A’ and made to play for team ‘B’. The young lad took shelter under a tree and wept profusely.

Ironically the same Arabs side lost their next game against the Ithnasheri Gymkhana team ‘B’ side and were bowled out cheaply by that lad who took 8 wickets. The lad was Akber Gulamhussein.

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanga in collaboration with Ahlul-Bayt Charitable foundation and Sayyid Shuhadaa Foundation of Mikanjuni – Tanga organized a peaceful march to commemorate the Death Anniversary of our Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W).
The procession which was attended by more than 1,000 people from all around Tanga started from Bilal Headquarters in Street No. 5 and ended at Ahlul-Bayt Charitable foundation Headquarters in Street No. 20.

Federation Samachar Editorial Board - Announcement

The Federation Samachar is currently in the process of being re-registered with the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports so as to abide by section 6 of the Tanzania Newspapers Act No. 3 of 1976 (Regulation 9).

The Editorial Board of the Federation Samachar is pursuing the re-registration procedures with the Newspaper Registrar at the Ministry of information, Culture, Arts and Sports. Once this procedure is completed the publication of the magazine will be resumed.

In the meantime the Editorial Board invites readers, columnists, Jamaats and Territorial Councils of Madagascar and Reunion to continue sending their activity reports for consideration and inclusion in the next issue which will be published immediately after the re-registration process is completed.

The Editorial Board normally publishes three issues of the magazine in each year. Due to the present formalities the Editorial Board will publish two issues in the first year of this term (April 2016 – April 2017).

With the constant efforts by the Editorial Board in pursuing this matter, we are hopeful it will not take too long for the re-registration of the Samachar magazine.

Report No.064 of Safar 1438 AH, November 2016


The Bilal Muslim Mission – Tanga Branch held a graduation program for its Nursery Students who completed KG 2 studies on Sunday 27th of November 2016. A total of 47 students completed their Kindergarten level studies this year.

The Graduation was held in all the four schools on the same day namely Duga, KIlulu, Makaka and Mkumbara centres. The functions were well attended by Local government representatives, Local Primary school representatives and other village dignitaries.
