Next to the "Night of Qadr" the Night of 15th Shab'an is the most auspicious and blessed night (also known as "Night of Bara'at").

The AFED Chairman Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, accompanied by the Hon. Secretary, Alhaj Aunali Khalfan, the Chairman of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania, Alhaj Shabir Somji and the Chairman of the Africa Federation Tableegh Board (AFTAB), Alhaj Seyed Hassan Naqvi will be visiting Mombasa, Kenya from Friday, 29th June to Sunday, 1st July 2012.

The AFED Chairman will be meeting the Walking Group of Jaffery Sports Club - Senior Citizens of our community at the Jaffery Sports Club on Friday evening and later on he will address the community members after Isha prayers/majlis at the Imambargha.

On Saturday, the AFED Chairman will be meeting the Mombasa Jamaat officials, AFED Councillors and Trustees of Kenya. In the evening, the Chairman and his delegation will be meeting the Office Bearers and Trustees of Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya.

On Sunday, 1st July 2012, the AFED Chairman along with his delegation will be joined by the AFED nominated Councillors, Alhaj Gulamabbas Khaku, Alhaj Nishathusein Karim and the AFED Kenyan Trustee, Alhaj Sultan Molu for the Opening Ceremony of Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya Imam Al Baqir Centre at Mwasafu. The Centre is located in the rural area of Taveta District in the Coast Province of Mombasa which about 200 kms from Mombasa Town. The Opening Ceremony will be performed by Alhaj Anwarali R. Dharamsi.

The Best Student Award Scheme recognizes the accomplishments of students within our community who have achieved outstanding results at O–levels education. It has been successfully organized for many years by the Education Board under the auspices of the Africa Federation.

The award is open to boys and girls who have appeared for National Examination and Overseas Board Examination "O" levels education during the academic year i.e. January to December.

This year, the Education Board received applications from Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Mombasa and Nairobi Jamaats. After close scrutiny based on the set criteria of selection, below are the results:

Give a Day's earnings towards the noble cause

The Chairman of The Africa Federation, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi is requesting the Worldwide Community to raise awareness of this important Day of the birth of The Awaited Saviour, Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi, al-Hujjah ibn Hassan al-Askari (ATFS).

The honour of this night touches heights and elevation as in the same night at the time of seher (pre-dawn) the Twelfth successor of Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.), The Awaited Imam, Al Mahdi (ATFS) was born in the year 255 A.H. in Samarah, Iraq.

To revere this very special and blessed night and day of 15th Sha'ban with act of charity and benevolence, the Chairman of The Africa Federation appeals to all community members of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri fraternity worldwide to donate their full One Day's earning to the Africa Federation for a noble cause of charity.

"The best man in view of faith is the most openhanded." – Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.)

This year, the collection made on this occasion will be utilized for supporting the less fortunate and deserving members of our community in the Jamaats of the Africa Federation who are not affording to pay school fees for their children, for their medical care, house rent and household living expenses.

Contributions towards this Fund can be made as follows:

  • Jamaats outside Africa through their respective Jamaats or the Regional Federations.
  • Jamaats of Madagascar through Conseil Regional of Madagascar (CROI).
  • Jamaats within mainland Africa through their respective Jamaats or Directly to the AFED Secretariat by contacting the office or email: secretariat@africafederation.org

This is a unique opportunity to assist the less fortunate and deserving families of our community in acquiring the basic needs. We request all the Jamaats to initiate and promote collections to start from 1st to 25th Sha'ban 1433 AH (21st June to 15th July 2012).

In 1902 Haji Gulamali Jivan left India by sea voyage for Mombasa where he put up at Haji Walji Bhanji residence for 22 days, he then left by steamer for Dar-es-Salaam, Tanganyika, the country was ruled by the Germans. Our community population was a good number compared with out towns. The Dar es Salaam Imambargha was constructed of iron corrugated sheets. During those days Dar-es –Salam was a very small town surrounded by thick forest. Every now and then some wild animals would appear in town area to attack the domestic animals.

The Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania, like every year, will organize the holy month of Ramadhan programs at its centres throughout Tanzania. These programs will be overseen by the Regional Chairmen of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania. Bilal Head Office in Dar es Salaam will also visit some Centres to extend a helping hand to the Organizers of the Programs.

Below listed are some of the holy month of Ramadhan Programs, includes daily prayers, Holy Qur'an recitation and translation, Madressah, Dua'as of the holy month of Ramadhan and A'amals during the Lailatul Qadr nights.

The joy of giving is overwhelming when one shares his/her wealth with the less fortunate during the holy month of Ramadhan. And it is in this month that the act of charity in all its manifestation is seen most revered in Islam.

The World Federation Delegation visited Bilal Muslim Mission Temeke complex on Tuesday, 22nd May 2012. The Delegation was headed by The Assistant Secretary General, Br Sadiq Datoo. Along with him were Sister Kanizbai Bhimani, WF Relief Manager, a Volunteer with the Zanabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme - ZCSS and Br. Abdallah Shabbar, WF Manager in Bosnia. They were accompanied by Br. Mustafa Sheriff, the Executive Secretary of Bilal Muslim Mission of Tanzania.

The visit commenced from 8 a.m. with Nursery School where children were partaking in sporting activities.

There are 135 children in the Nursery School at Bilal Temeke Complex.
