At a very young age he left India migrated to Mombasa and worked for Ismail Kalyan's company in Lamu.

In 1914 he joined another company of Haji Dawoodbhai Haji Nasser and worked for many years as a Manager, he played a great role in this company.

The Africa Federation Secretariat had called upon children between the ages of 6 and 12 to Design an Eid Card for the Africa Federation.

Twenty six (26) cards were received at the Secretariat Office and it was overwhelming to see the efforts and enthusiasm put in by the children.

Making a choice of picking up the three "Africa Federation Eid Cards" was a difficult one and the card designed by Mukarram Rashid (10 Years) of Arusha was picked as the card to be used as the Eid Card of the Africa Federation for Eid Ul Fitr 1432.

It is an occasion to offer our thanks to our Creator, Allah (SWT) for His grace and mercy, and it is when Allah (SWT) is awarding us for our achievements.

Africa Federation Tableegh Board and Youth Network have organised seminars for Pre Marriage and Engaged/Rencetly Married Couples.

This is an important forum to educate the young couples and those youths intending to marry soon on marriage and to bring about greater awareness of matrimonial responsibilities.

Youths are encouraged to participate in this important seminar where by they will be able to share their ideas and views.

Following months of preparation and coordination, The World Federation, in partnership with The Africa Federation (AFED), The Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ), the North American Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities Organization (NASIMCO), and Dubai Jamaat is pleased to announce the launch of the renowned Madinah al-Ilm and Bab al-Ilm Summer Courses for youths.

Dates

The Madinah al-Ilm course is for boys and girls (separate camps) from the ages of 18 to 24 and will run from 24 July to 12 August 2011.

The Bab al-Ilm course is for boys and girls (separate camps) from the ages of 14 to 17 and will run from 24 July to 12 August 2011.

President of Iman, Mohamed Jawad Khaki pays courtesy visit to Africa Federation Offices

Brother Mohamed Jawad Khaki, President and a founding Director of Ithna-Asheri Muslim Association of the Northwest (IMAN) on his visit to Tanzania, met with the Africa Federation Office-Bearers and the AFED Education Board on 22nd February 2011 at the Supreme Council Office in Dar-es-Salaam.In year 2000, Khaki Foundation committed to provide US$112,000 to AFED in support of the Higher Education Loan Scheme, three students benefitted from it; the students have successfully completed their Bachelor's degrees, and have commenced repayment of the loans.

Report on the Free Eye Camp held at Mengwa Primary School, Maneromango on Sunday 27th February, 2011

A free eye camp was conducted at Mengwa, Maneromango, Kisarawe district, which is 75 km out of Dar-es-Salaam, on Sunday. 27th February 2011, from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm. Only 15 km of the road was tarmac and the rest was passable, in dry season. The journey took 2 ½ hours.

Community History 2 (Suleman Khimji)

Brother Suleman Khimji together with Brother Abdallah Khimji travelled from India facingdifficulties through the Arab population and going through tough times he arrived atPangani in 1888. Sulemanbhai was only 14 years old. At that time, most of the buildingswere built of raw clay bricks and thatched roofs with dried palm leaves (in other wordshuts) and few were built with stones and clay.
