akhtar_rizviCommemorating the 10th Death Anniversary of Allamah Seyed Saeed Akhtar Rizvi who passed away in Dar-es-Salaam on 8th Rabi-ul-Aakhar 1423 (20th June 2002).

A brief biography - Allamah was born in a place called Ushri, Saran district, Bihar state, India in 1927. He left behind five sons and two daughters. He second eldest son, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Maulana Seyed Muhammad Rizvi, lives in Toronto, Canada. He has followed his father's footsteps and has written many books as well. He is the Resident Aalim of the Islamic Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat (ISIJ) of Toronto, Jaffari Islamic Center.

The President of the World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithnaasheri Muslim Communities, Al-Haj Mulla Asgharali M. M. Jaffer, on his recent private visit to Kenya, extended his visit to Dar-es-Salaam at the invitation of the Chairman of Dar-es-Salam Jamaat, Alhaj Aliraza Rajani. He arrived on Tuesday, 19th October 1993 and upon arrival immediately attended a session with Africa Federation officials where in the situation of the Somalia community in particular was discussed along with the part the World Federation may be called upon to play to assist the community.

The Secretariat wish to inform all community members that the Chairman of the Federation of KSI Jamaats of Africa, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, accompanied by the Hon. Treasurer, Alhaj Mohamed Hemani and the Chairman of the Housing Development Board, Alhaj Munawer Bharwani will be travelling to Arusha on Saturday, 3rd to Sunday, 4th March 2012 to participate in the Ground Breaking ceremony of the Africa Federation Welfare Housing Project – The "AL QA'EEM" building in Arusha.

The Chairman and his delegation will also participate in the Opening Ceremonies of the renovations and upgrading of the Mosque/Imambargha exterior and the Phase Two of the medical facilities of KSI Jamaat Dispensary which has been very well undertaken by Arusha Jamaat.

We congratulate the President, Office Bearers, Trustees and Members of Arusha Jamaat for these wonderful achievements and developments, may Allah (swt) increase in their tawfeeqat and inspiration to continue with the same zeal and dedication.

Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi, accompanied by the AFED Vice Chairman, Alhaj Shabir Najafi will travel to Nairobi, Kenya to meet with SAAJ – Nairobi Jamaat President, Office Bearers and Trustees on the ongoing Housing Project of SAAJ in Nairobi; they will also visit the site of the Project on Sunday, 4th March 2012. AFED has provided a "Bridging Loan" to SAAJ for the Housing Project for our members of community in Nairobi.

The Africa Federation has embarked on a Welfare Housing Project in Arusha, Tanzania – The "AL QA'EEM" AFED building.  This is as per the vision of the Secretariat to assist our community in those Jamaats under AFED which have pressing need of housing for its members who are deserving and needy.

The "AL QA'EEM" building will consist of ground plus eight storied residential apartments in the Arusha Township.  The project is expected to be completed within 24 months.  Full details of the Project will be given at the Ground Breaking Ceremony.
 
Saturday, 3rd March 2012 is the night of the wiladat of our 11th Imam, Hazrat Imam Hassan Al Askari (AS), there is Khushali majlis and nyaz after maghribain prayers at Imambargha according to the program of Arusha Jamaat.
 
The Ground-Breaking Ceremony of the AFED Building named after our 12th Imam Al Hujjah (ATFS), "AL QA'EEM" will take place in Arusha Insha'allah on Sunday, 4th March 2012 at 10.00 AM.
 
We request members of the Community in Arusha, Moshi and other neighbouring towns to grace this occasion with their presence.

DIABETES AND YOU - Cases of Diabetes in our community are alarmingly on an increase, this is from a quick survey carried out by CHB through some of our Jamaats in Africa, including some Jamaats in Madagascar. Diabetes is a source of several complications, including eye sight loss, kidney failures, heart attacks etc.

What is Diabetes?

diabetes_1Diabetes mellitus commonly known as diabetes or 'sugar' is a condition where blood sugar remains high due to lack of, or resistance to, a hormone called insulin.

After a meal, sugar in the blood, increases. This stimulates the release of a chemical called insulin from the pancreas. Insulin helps to push the blood sugar into the cells of the body where it is utilized to make energy.

ahmedbhai_sheriffLate Alhaj Ahmedbhai Hussein Sheriff of Mombasa, a prominent zakir suddenly died on Sunday 6th May, 1990.  He had completed preaching at a majils in Mombasa that Sunday before he collapsed and died.

Marhum Ahmedbhai also made his mark as a writer of religious books and articles.  He drudged and worked hard when preparing his material which therefore was effective and provoked interest.

Mahrum Ahmedbhai was a linguist with good command over English, Guajarati, Urdu, Farsi and Kiswahili.  He chose to write in English for the benefit of the youths in the Community.

pop_2The Chairman, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi on behalf of the Africa Federation and members of the community extends heartiest congratulations to Honourable Alhaj Mohamedraza Dharamsee (Pop) for being elected as Member of the House of Representative for Uzini Constituency Zanzibar, at the by elections held there on Sunday 12thFebruary 2012.

It is matter of great pride for our Community to have our Member attain such a position in the Government of Zanzibar.
 
Alhaj Mohamedraza Dharamsee is the President of KSI Kuwwatul Islam Jamaat and has been actively involved in politics in Zanzibar for many years and was the Sports Advisor to the former President of Zanzibar Mr. Salmin Amour. 
 
We pray to Allah (swt) for his continued success in serving the people of Zanzibar, and also pray for his long and healthy life.
