The Chairman of the Africa Federation, Alhaj Anwarali Dharamsi is requesting the worldwide community to raise awareness of this important Day of 15th Shab'an.

The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) has said that during the night of 15th Shab'an the Almighty takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the people.

The honour of this night touches heights and elevation as in the same night at the time of seher (pre-dawn) the Twelfth successor of Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.), The Awaited Imam, Al Mahdi (ATFS) was born in the year 255 A.H. in Samarah, Iraq.

To celebrate this blessed night and day of 15th Shab'an with an act of charity and benevolence, the Chairman of the Africa Federation appeals to all community members of the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri fraternity worldwide to donate their full One Day's earning to the Africa Federation for a noble cause of charity.

"Those who give to charity by night and by day, secretly and publicly, receive their recompense from their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" [Holy Qur'an - 2:274].

This year, the Secretariat has appointed an ad-hoc Committee, headed by Br. Farhan Yusuf to manage this event, also to liaise with the constituent Jamaats and the AFED Councillors. We would request the youth of the Community to come forward and support in raising awareness for this noble cause. Further details on this will be circulated soon.

Contributions towards this Fund can be made as follows:

*  Jamaats outside Africa through their respective Jamaats or the Regional Federations.

* Jamaats of Madagascar and Reunion through Conseil Regional of Madagascar (CROI).

* Jamaats of Reunion through Union des Associations Khodjas Shia Isnashri de la Reunion (UAKSIR).

* Jamaats within mainland Africa through their respective Jamaats or directly to the  AFED Secretariat by contacting the office or email:

This is a unique opportunity to earn Allah's pleasure and blessings to assist the less fortunate and deserving families of our community members for their basic needs. We request all the Jamaats to initiate and promote collections to start from 1st to 25th Sha'ban 1434 AH (10th June to 4th July 2013).

Hon Secretary

Bilal Muslim Mission Tanga celebrated the birth of the 5th Holy Imam, Muhammad bin Ali (Al-Baqir) (AS) on the eve of 1 Rajab 1434 (11 May 2013) at its main center in Tanga.

A large gathering of both males and females, listened attentively to the reciter, Sheikh Baaqir Lumbongo, a student of Hawzatul Al Qaim, expounding on the life and achievement of this personality.

The Holy Imam is known widely by his title 'Baqir' as the one to bring out knowledge to the public like the plough splits the earth and brings out the fertile soil from underneath. He recounted the famous 'hadith' of the Holy Prophet (saww) prophesying the birth of his progeny to be known by the title of'Al- Baqir' as he would split wide open the knowledge of religion
